    Cure time

My recommendation would be to use a wire cheese cutter and slice off small guest bars. I do not know if you are running a business but there could be some liability with giving someone a sharp knife and letting then cut off their slice of soap. I am working with a small business and this is...

Does anyone here use a hot plate in their business?

The hot plate I purchased is from Amazon. It is an Ovente Countertop Infrared single burner 1000W with a 5 level temperature setting, Currently 19.99. I have used it for over 2 years and would buy it again. It is not left plugged in when not in use.

Does anyone here use a hot plate in their business?

I have been using a hot plate for probably since I started making soap. I make soap in my garage. I have a stainless steel 3 shelf cart and it sits on top with my scale. The one I currently use was purchased on Amazon and it does have a good control of heat, Not sure of the brand but I can...

Where do I find these ingredients

I was diagnosed with this skin condition about 10 years ago. As I age, I am getting more of the spots. I was told by my dermatologist that the only way to remove them was by laser. They also will probably come back. My gap insurance & Medicare does not cover this as they consider it a...

    Pot Tippers or any suggestions

Hiring a teenager can have it's own set of problems. Liability insurance is one. Right now teenage labor is hard to find. Every place that hires younger workers has a sign out and there don't seem to be a lot of takers. I will stick with the smaller batches and my customers will have to wait...

    Pot Tippers or any suggestions

I am having trouble making enough soap for my markets. I had previously made 51 bars in a 13 qt pail and divided the batch into 3 molds of 17 bars. I have had to cut back to 34 bars divided into 2 molds of 17 bars. I am 80+ and have shoulder and back arthritis. I started looking at pot...

Good Gravy! Shipping cost at Soaper's Choice, Whattttttt??????

Soaper's Choice has never been a disappointment for oils. Shipping is going up for all carriers. My order is most always delivered the next day. One plus for me is if I want to drive into the Chicago area, I can pick up oils at their warehouse. About 165 miles for me.

Holidays in the time of Covid

To BattleGnome - I couldn't agree with you more about Wisconsin. I am a resident of Wisconsin and people wearing masks varies from county to county. I don't understand what is so difficult about putting on a mask. In my county, 300 people walked in to a county board meeting to complain...

    Customer Issue

The jar had residue under the threads. I would guess that it was at least 1-1/2 years old. I always tell customers that it has a shelf life of 6 to 9 months. I use Optiphen for a preservative. It did have distilled water in it along with the oils & butters. This is the first jar that has...

    Customer Issue

I had a customer hand me a jar of cream on Saturday telling me it didn't smell right. I opened it and it didn't smell anything like the fragrance listed. I just told her I would replace it by the end of this week. I always try to go with "the customer is always right" although, we all know...

What to do with those ugly end bits?

I put a bunch of end pieces in snack bags with my business card last week at a market. I offered them as free soap samples and they disappeared very quickly. Usually family gets these pieces but sometimes there are just too many.

    Piping Rock EOs and herbs

I have purchased oils from them until in July of 2017. I ordered three bottles of rosemary EO. Smelled nothing like what rosemary should smell like. I contacted them and was told by a customer service representative that this was the way all rosemary EO smelled. No more orders to them!
