How can you avoid inhaling Lye fumes?

I use a Respirator Mask with a replaceable filter and a vent hood. I sometimes use The Heat Transfer Method when making no scent no color Soap. Therefore, the Lye Solution needs to be hot to melt butters and fats. I use ventilation when doing this, as well. Protect your Lungs at all cost! Blessings!

Try using a spoon in the mold when you pour and remove it after filling cavity. It seems to help with that issue. Blessings!

What caused the extreme fast gel phase?

Yes, like Lavender or Geranium E. O. I see you measured your Oils in grams but your F. O. in ml. You may want to measure it in grams, also, so you do not get confused. Blessings!

What caused the extreme fast gel phase?

I’ve found that F. O. with Floral scents are not great in CP Soap bc they tend to cause issues, also, from Soap-on-a-stick to over heating. Blessings!

Anyone have these in there white soap?

I spray my mold with alcohol before use to remove anything that may have landed in it and store them upside down after washing and drying. Be careful with Open windows, too, because debris can blow in and land on your equipment. Blessings!

    An Amazing Acrylic Soap Beveler

Shirley Hailstock, I purchased one, as well! Your review is right on! Find a key and stick with it! Hard Bars Only, if you don’t want a mess! I actually do NOT Recommend. I barely use it because simple beveling with planer or Peeler will suffice. Another unnecessary purchase, for me.

Any tips for Melting Hard Oils Without Microwave

Hi! I was taught that you only heat hard oils in a boiler of water in a separate container so not to scorch or overheat the oil on a stove top. A Microwave changes the chemistry of whatever you put in there. If you use quality oils, then I wouldn’t use the Microwave. Blessings!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I read where someone suggested Big Lots Coconut Oil. I purchased 10 of them. Something was not quite right! My Soap did not turn out well! I learned my lesson and will never use it again. I use quality ingredients in the making of my soaps and other products, however, this was not! Blessings!

Does shea butter contribute to DOS?

Hi. I think you misunderstood the reason that Distilled Water is used in soap making. It is because it has the minerals/metals removed because they are the culprit in soaps developing DOS. Cheaper is not the way to go because they are like Apples & Oranges. Not interchangeable. Mineral Water is...

Coconut oil and other great oils

My understanding is all Hard Oils & Butters should not be microwaved but heated in double boiler to melt. I never use a Microwave for anything. They are toxic and changes the composition of what goes in there.

    Soapers Not Using Chelators.

Just wanted to chime in to The Gecko. There are Rules & Regulations on Labeling. You must list ALL ingredients in that Specific Soap. You can Not list things as, “ May Contain”! It may be easier but it’s incorrect.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Hi! I’ve never added Citric Acid mixed in Water to my Oils. How did it turn out - Oil & Water? I add & dissolve mine in my Distilled Water prior to adding Lye.

Glass and lye; truth or myth?

According to The Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild (HSCG), Heat Resistant Glass is acceptable for mixing Lye.
