No i kept it in my plastic container in a sealed plastic bag in the tub that it came in 😳 I guess i will toss it out, put my oils in the fridge and see if i can get some lye somewhere in the city or will have to order online 😢

Calling all lardinators! Why do you love lard-based soaps? 🐖

I agree. While Tenderflake is lard it does have all the extras in it which is why i prefer to hold off using it until my lard supply is no more. Having said that I’m pretty sure lye kills all that 😆

Calling all lardinators! Why do you love lard-based soaps? 🐖

Where are you buying these large cubes of lard? And anyone from Canada want to jump in if they also buy these cubes? :secret: I wouldn’t mind trying to process the lard to see if i can.

Get my lard at a butcher shop. Canadian too. Not all butcher shops have lard though so hard to find. When I can’t find it anymore i will do what @Misschief does and buy Tenderflake

    Ingredient Formulation

Yep that’s the hard way but i believe someone shared a website with a “fill in the ingredients” and it would do the work. So frustrating because it was just mentioned.

    Ingredient Formulation

So frustrated! The other day in a discussion about how to figure out amounts in an ingredient list in a manufactured product one wonderful SMF posted a formula to help figure it out. If course i wrote down the info but now can’t find the piece of paper. I don’t even know if i am explaining...

Empty lye container - now what?

Ok so that’s how to get rid of the empty container, but now how do i know if my lye is still active? I haven’t made soap in a while…

Is It the Soap? Or the Soap User?

I have to say that when my hands get really dirty (like helping my hubby with mud, cement, under son’s cabin) i do what your family does…run soap under water until my hands are no longer giving off the black dirt. Then i do what you do. But unlike your family my dirt is few and far between.

    Lard Recipe

If i use 50% lard plus almond oil plus a butter (whatever i have on hand) and i hot process in my slow cooker it always seems like I don’t have enough time to do a color/swirl. Am i over cooking?
