I would say the stearic caused the problem.

The lye guy has better prices than essential depot for me. I think it depends on your location.

I first grind them in my blender and then my coffee grinder. I only use the blender first because my coffee grinder is junk.

It looks like stearic spot from the palm. When I use palm which is almost never I have to keep both lye water and oils above 90 or my soaps look like that.

Yes I get the whole dried beans amd grind them to a pretty fine powder. I really like them in emulsified sugar scrubs too.

No I just grind them up and put them in. I have never had any problems with spoilage.

It looks like they are emulsifying with beeswax and borax. It can be done but consistent results are very difficult using this method.

Coffee is the most abrasive for sure. Poppy seeds are nice, scrubby but not scratchy.
