How do I use citric acid without an odor???

I don't find citric acid has a smell. What are you making? I am confused because citric acid, citrus odor, and vinegar are all different things. Can you please clarify what you are using in what product?

    Basic question

Depending on your recipe you could hand stir. If you are using mostly oo and soft oil this could take hours. I have a few formulas that I can hand stir to trace in about 20 min.

    Advice on new mold

I really like my 9 bar mold. The dividers can be tricky but worth it. I haven't had any issues getting soap to gel in the mold. The cover helps alot and I still soap cool sometimes and use a heating pad to force gel. I don't know about the cpop I did that once in silicone and had bubbles form...

    Talk among'st yourselves...I'll give you a topic.

Personally I think soapmaking is a great art. I don't find any need to limit my use of colorants any more than paint. I love plain soaps too but I don't often make them. I don't sell so soaping is a creative hobby that benefits my family's skin as a bonus!

I don't think sugar is going to cut it in this case. Hopefully I can be proved wrong. Updated if you can.

    Goat Milk Lotion Tutorial

I made an oat milk lotion a while back. It went bad rather quickly. I used homemade oatmilk and used it for half my water amoumt. I think there was just too much botanical matter for the lotion to handle. I would think coconut milk would be ok, especially store bought. Please follow up if you...

Are these oil or maybe lye (!?) pockets? (photo)

It really looks like a little bit of soap that didn't get colored. It has happened to me when I have separated colors and didn't scrape my bowl down before coloring. I really hate to give you another suggestion as to what it might be just seems odd that it is so isolated to that one spot. My...

    Too much Castor Oil

It is high but I use 20% in my shampoo bar. Maybe try it? I try to avoid rebatch so I am sure I am being too optimistic.

    Best Soap Books

I think soapmaking books are a great read, can't get enough. There are great suggestions above. I do have one issue with most soapmaking books. They give recipes and do not stress the importance of a soap calculator. When I first started making soap I picked up a book at the library and made...

Stearic Acid & Palm Kernel Oil Flakes

I regularly use pko flakes in my cp soap. I soap anywhere fron 80 to 110 with little problems with fast trace. The stearic acid is likely causing the problem. If you want to use stearic acid you might want to try hp.

A question for the lotion makers...

What preservative are you using? Some cause seperation especially with btms.

Avocado oil vs butter vs puree

I have used both oil and puree in soap. I have also made my own avocado butter with avocado oil and vegethix. The butter is saponifiable but I think it's too pricy to waste in soap. What make it a butter is just the addition of fully hydrogenated soybean like a soy wax

    Labeling soap for donation?

Thanks for all the replies. I still don't know what I am going to do. She took all the soap but the craft fair is 3 weeks out so I can send little cards with my info on them. So at the very least she can tape them or pass them out with the soap. That way if anyone has any questions they could...

A question for the lotion makers...

Though you add cones in the cool down, they are counted as a oil to emulsify. If you are having separation you need to look at you ewax/emulsifier amount and likely add more.
