    Triple rice soap

That's the thing: If I have extra puree for next time, won't I have even more later because I'll need more rinse/soak water? Seems like this will snowball into always having too much puree and not enough rice water. Am I missing something here? Thank you! I wanted to make sure the rice doesn't...

    How do you increase bubbles?

That's what I thought. Thank you for confirming.

    Triple rice soap

@Misschief Last night, per one of your posts, I soaked 1/3 cup organic jasmin rice in 1 1/3 c distilled water for about 4 hours, then drained and saved the liquid. Then, I added 3 c more distilled water to the rice and boiled/simmered until it was mushy and couldn't see the water anymore. After...

    How do you increase bubbles?

Is this regular sunflower or high oleic? I recently bought some HO sunflower to try but had no idea it could help with bubbles. I'm just trying to find a sub for olive oil in a particular recipe I'm playing with.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Not exactly making soap, but I did process 2 large fresh aloe leaves, strain the liquid, and freeze it in individual molds that hold the amount I use in every 5lb batch of soap.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Now I'm going to have to Google to see what that much olive oil actually looks like because....35 pounds?! What a thoughtful gift!

Where did you learn to soap?

I think a lot of people started with MP. I didn't even know about MP until after I was making CP. Once I learned about MP and looked into it further, I thought of it as using a boxed cake mix instead of baking a cake from scratch. Now, I know better. There are threads here that show how truly...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Ah, the Solvol dupe! I've never tried it because I found @earlene's blacksmith recipe and just HAD to try it first. Also, because Elly doesn't give an exact amount of pumice in that video and I like precise measurements for consistency. Something you might try is making a batch to use in cavity...

Need help finding a natural orange colorant

I've used paprika infused olive as a percentage of my total olive oil and made shades of peach to orange depending on the concentration. The only problem is the orange fades out to white over time for me. Natural colorants do crazy things. Below are pictures of a soap I made when experimenting...

Accidentally added 2 extra grams of lye

Grab a spoon and remove a smidge at a time until I you get the correct measurement on the scale. Or are you figuring this out after you've already added the water or made the soap?

    In need of lye ASAP

Ace Hardware Stores carry it if you have one. Rooto is the brand. I've had to use it when I ran out a couple times and was surprised I had to ask for it because they keep it in a back room away from easy access.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Last night, DH asked to look at my loaf mold because he wanted to see what I've changed and what I like/dislike about it. He asked if I'm ready for him to make my REAL loaf mold yet? Apparently, the one I've been using is just the prototype! Woot! 🎉 I told him YES, I'd love another loaf mold...

What soapy thing have you done today?

What are you using for your exfoliant? Do you have this in a thread somewhere? I use pumice that I powder in my DIY only coffee grinder and use at 3.3% ppo. I calculated this number from @earlene's blacksmith recipe originally to adjust my batch size for mechanic bars. I used the same amount of...

A Special Thanks to Suds MacKenzie

Please accept my apology @Prysm. I've gotten a couple emails from you and I honestly couldn't figure out if you are an AI bot that was triggered each time I logged in or if you are an actual person. Reading this thread clears that up!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Because I typed it earlier, I did it. The soap is under a gazillion towels doing it's thing now. It's nothing picture-worthy, just plain ole unscented, uncolored ZNSC with aloe vera but I still get giddy every time I make it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I am always shocked speechless when you report numbers of the 3-digit variety. I don't know where I would cure that much soap!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today, I'm making more ZNSC. I've been putting it off because I do not like lining my mold, but I'm running low since DH grabbed my last couple bars and gave them as gifts to his customers. A couple weeks later, DH said one of those customers contacted him and raved about my soap and wants to...

Where did you learn to soap?

I saw the wire racks in one of her videos a while back and wondered the same. Maybe they're coated? She didn't have the patron exclusive stuff going on back when I was watching her videos trying to figure out stuff like lye concentration, lining a mold, scaling recipes to fit any mold... Those...

Where did you learn to soap?

I've only actually used one of Elly's recipes which was for a liquid soap. I used her videos as a common sense guide to understanding what I was doing and why/how to do things from a mathematical perspective, if that makes sense. Elly's videos show how straightforward and accessible soapmaking...

Where did you learn to soap?

I have a relative (well, my husband has a relative) who used to make/sell soap before YouTube was a thing. I was always interested but we lived far enough apart that we never really had the opportunity for her to teach me. She had long since stopped making soap when I started so when I called...
