Aloe vera juice - where do you purchase yours?

The recipe for ZNSB is 0 SF and needs to remain that way, which is why I need to know how much citric acid to account for. This is why I've only used home prepared frozen aloe gel, thus far.

Aloe vera juice - where do you purchase yours?

I've almost purchased this so many times. The only thing holding me back is not knowing how much citric acid is in it.

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I won?! Wow thank you! It was so fun to try and I definitely can't wait to try it again. This forum is the best. I learn so much from all of you.

    Brambleberry Sale on Trial Fragrances

The same sale is running again. I can see this being a good way to try fragrances I am unfamiliar with before committing to a larger bottle that may never get used if I hate the smell.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I voted. Is that soapy? 😂

What soapy thing have you done today?

Yep. Same here. I made pies, apple crisps, and apple butter a couple weeks ago then lo and behold.... MORE apples appeared! Round 2 will have to happen at some point soon and soaping is currently on hold. I'm thinking apple sauce is next.

What soapy thing have you done today?

This is actually why, as much as I really want to, I have not tried mango butter or avacado oil in anything thus far.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've never understood the love of shea. It's always made my skin physically hurt, turn bright red, and burn like a mound of fire ants just got ahold of me. I think my latex allergy must carry over to shea butter.

If you go, please report back! I wanna know what it smells like out of sheer curiosity.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I cancelled my online order for the Cuisinart because it was just taking too long to ship and I was already on the fence about the lock button feature. So I went out and bought a KitchenAid 2speed at my local Walmart and really like it! Speed 1 is perfect! I hope it lasts.

ENTRY THREAD for September 2024 SMF Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

Top pic from left to right: 1. Back of a bar from the bottom layer. 2. Front of a bar from the top layer. 3. Front of a bar from the bottom layer. Bottom pic is directly after the second swirl before I covered it up. For my entry, I used a high lard base recipe I've been meaning to try for a...

Question: Am I supposed to enter a pic of the bottom before I plane it?

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I don't have a slab cutter or I definitely would've used it for this challenge. I have a cheese cutter that I DIY'd into a wire cutter. I added a 2.5 inch line to my cutter today just for this challenge, then I turned them and cut at just over 1inch as usual. I've already cut mine, but still...

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I almost did the same but noticed a tiny little crack near the end piece and couldn't bring myself to try it.

I was wondering if you cut the wrong direction, too, because yours is way more uniform than mine. I don't think I made my first swirls close enough either, but the second swirl is definitely botched. You certainly couldn't identify this particular swirl by just looking at my soap.

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I definitely plan to try this technique again (possibly tonight if I can build another contraption in time) with one batter, divided and colored to see if the swirl turns out better. My swirl doesn't look feather-like at all due to one of the colors being much thicker than the others. It didn't...

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I hope you do! I think having a medium/thicker trace is key to DIY dividers not leaking underneath. I had a little leakage in one spot but I think (hope) I made enough to get bars that won't be from that section.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made my challenge soap! It was definitely a challenge, but I learned so many great lessons I wouldn't have learned otherwise. I used the opportunity to try a new recipe, too. High lard might not have been the best way to go when looking for a thicker trace. I stickblended for what felt like an...

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

It worked! My crazy cardboard contraption worked! Note to self: Buy micas next time! Or at the very least, be sure to only make 1 soap batter, then split and color. Making multiple batches with multiple lye solutions is fine (time consuming, but fine). What's not fine is when one color decides...
