What type of a container do you use to mix your water (liquid) and lye?

As do I. Depending on the size of my batch, I also use a stainless steel mixing bowl.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Earlier this week, I purchased a recipe for Jelly Soap, made with carrageenan. I played around with it today, making two small batches (250 ml each). Batch #1 wasn't a complete success; I didn't bring it to a high enough temperature and it ended up kind of mushy rather than jiggly. Batch #2 was...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Here's the cut of what should have been Love Spell soap; instead, I'll be calling it Oops!

What soapy thing have you done today?

In all the years I've been making soap (about 10), I have never.... ever.... forgotten to add the fragrance. Well, that changed today. I just realized the dish with the FO is still on my windowsill. I made a very pretty pink and purple UNSCENTED soap this morning.

My mother, and herssuite, on the other hand, didn't have that same smell and we couldn't smell it on her at all. She was almost 90 when she died.

    Don't worry about it.

Where do I find these ingredients

One of the top sources of collagen is beef. Rather than using a collagen powder in your soap, why not try using beef tallow; it makes a fantastic soap. The ingredients you're asking about may be better in a leave-in product rather than soap, which is a wash off product. And, I agree with...

    What happened to Zany_in_CO?

If you want an ingredient to help counteract that "old people smell", try trehalose. It's a sugar but it apparently helps if you use it in a cream/lotion. And, it has been shown that the smell is actually the breaking down of some components in the skin of older people.

Soap recipe for older thin skin

If you do decide to go the cream/lotion route, one ingredient that is often used in creams that help to counteract that "old people smell" is trehalose.

Using Fresh Mountain Snow Melt for CP Soap

I've used sea water in some of my soaps (from the west coast of Vancouver Island). I do boil it for several minutes and allow it to cool before using it. I've been doing this for several years now and have had no issues at all. And I would think that snow melt is probably less contaminated than...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I hate to be a buzz kill but could we keep this thread for bath & body, please? There's a thread for anything soap related already: What Soapy Thing Did You Do Today? This thread is intended for bath and body products that aren't soap. Thank you for understanding.

@Kcryss, I just realized that I misread your post about the recipes. Those are the recipes you already have. Of the ones you don't have, the Foaming Bath Butter is one I would consider a must-have. I have a friend who can't use soap; she breaks out in a rash every time. She uses the Bath...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I've noticed that it does seem to help for my hands. I have arthritis in one finger on my right hand it I have de Quervain's in both my wrists (like carpal tunnel but in a different joint) and the cream does seem to help but I do need to remember to use it. LOL Emu oil is one of my favourite...
