I keep the extra puree frozen for the next time I make the soap (thank you for the reminder! I need to make more). I don't know that the rice helps with harder bars; I think that depends more on your base recipe than anything else. It does seem to add a silkiness to the bar.

Lanolin works great in lotion/cream. I use it in what I call Knitter's Hand Cream; it's a consistent seller for me. That particular cream also has colloidal oatmeal which is known to help with itchy skin (aka Aveeno).
