Cheap EO price, cheap EO quality

How much was the sandalwood? Real sandalwood is very expensive. Years ago I bought “sandalwood” on eBay I think and it smelled like cheap aftershave. 🙄

    Folded Orange EO

I get so frustrated with orange EO, I feel like it always fades instantly during saponification. Even folded. I am not a believer in “anchoring” with kaolin clay, but I plan to do some experiments this winter. Brambleberry has some great fragrance oils but their essential oils are pricey. Try...

    Help finding affordable essential oils

I feel seen… Re EO sources I like NDA and Jedwards - cheaper shipping than NDA and very good quality. I also have recently bought from Nature Packaged - the owner was at the soap convention in Connecticut in May. He buys directly from the farmers and his quality is very good. The main EOs I use...

SMF September 2024 Challenge - Feathered Mantra Swirl

I love this! Question - I don’t follow this photo requirement: “The photo can be of the soap in the mold or the uncut loaf or slab out of the mold. If you use dividers in a slab mold, take the photo before you add the dividers.” The dividers would be placed in the very beginning before any soap...

Google Sheet alternative to Craftybase or Soapmaker Pro

I should have said I do have the office suite, including Excel, on my MacBook. Sheets is handy for me because being cloud-based I can check it from my phone, iPad or MacBook. But - I am going to look again at your spreadsheet. 👍

Google Sheet alternative to Craftybase or Soapmaker Pro

Oh, this is great! I’m looking forward to what you produce. I use google sheets for many things - tracking sales, maintaining a price list for all ingredients (by vendor per ounce), scaling recipes. @Grantxw8 I had downloaded an early version of your spreadsheet but it was still being refined -...

    Sugar scrubs gluey

Thank you! Was hoping you’d respond. 😊 I’ll try each of those in small batches.

    Sugar scrubs gluey

I have decided to jump on the sugar scrub train, so today I experimented with the soap shred method spelled out so nicely in @AliOop’s thread. I think I should have added more sugar, and maybe less stearic, mine came out super thick and gluey. My basic recipe: Soap shred 25% Water 13%...

    Grams vs. Ounces

Haha that’s perfect. Thank you. 👍

    Grams vs. Ounces

Well, that’s precisely my point - my scale measures to .5 grams, and (if I change units) to 0.01 ounces which is a smaller unit than 0.5 grams - it’s 0.28 grams. But really my point is that the relentless repeating of “grams are more accurate” makes me a little batty.

    Covid

TLDR: still testing positive - trying to figure out when I can safely sell at markets. I am so much better, feel like a human again. Smell is still muted, which I don’t like, and I have a residual cough, but it’s not much at all. I would have had four markets this weekend. The guidance on when...

    Covid

It’s funny, I hear my heartbeat all the time - I always thought everyone did and recently learned that isn’t the case! I’m on the mend - I think the Paxlovid helped a lot. Can’t smell very well which is really depressing, hopefully it will come back quickly.

    Covid

The thought of sitting up for eight hours right now makes me weak. Hoping tomorrow will be a little better.

    Covid

I hadn’t really been paying attention either. The new booster is not out yet but has been adapted for the new variants - I assume it will be advertised when it’s available, in the fall. Even though I have Covid now I’ll get it when I’m eligible. This is no joke. 😐 Paxlovid seems to be not...

    Covid

Thanks all - I have been feeling progressively worse throughout the day so I think it’s the right call. No voice now. Head congestion. Very crabby to poor husband.

    Covid

Ok - right after reading this I messaged my dr, and they just called back and called in a prescription for me. Metal taste here we come. I read a bunch of horror stories on Reddit - this is not a mild strain, according to anecdotal evidence.
