    Stevia in Lip Balm?

Could you perhaps infuse some hops into an oil? I infuse alaskan fireweed flowers and rose petals into sweet almond oil that I then turn into lip balms. I add vitamin E oil and peppermint EO into the recipe. I'm guessing very little if any of the flowers flavor carries over but other good...

    Problems Using Different Beeswax

I've never had an issue with the beeswax I use. I only use locally sourced beeswax made right here in Alaska. My normal formulation is 2 oz of beeswax to 1 cup of infused oils. I also add a small amount of vitamin e oil and usually peppermint essential oil for scent/flavor.

What type of Bath Bomb molds do you use?

I also switched to the moon cake molds. I bought mine on Amazon. I don't sell either just gift them to family and friends. But the moon cake molds work well and I'm quite happy with them. They are easy enough to use that even my buddies young kids have used them successfully.

A wish for consistency of UNITS! Is it only me?

To be honest none of this bothers me in the least. Especially since I have a smartphone around all the time that easily does the conversions from metric anytime I ask. I grew up here in the good ole USA and our system works just fine for me. But converting to metric or vice versa is so simple...

Does charcoal have to be activated?

Since the stated reason was a lack of locally available activated charcoal I'd use this up then consider making your own activated charcoal in a proper manner. I've made it a couple of times and it's relatively easy. I use a new paint can from Home Depot to make the charcoal in my burn...

    Help with Bath Bombs please.

I love Dean Wilson's recipe and I've made it many times. A big thumbs up from me. Even my buddies young kids love making bathbombs using his recipe. They have always turned out great as well. Never any cracking or anything. It's the only one I've used and they've always worked so I'm no help on...

    Nurture doesn't carry SAO now??

I've been buying the Baja Precious brand the last few years. https://www.bajaprecious.com/wholesale I don't use a ton of it so I only buy ~1 gallon a year or so. But with shipping to Alaska the price is decent. Quality seems good to me also. Their fulfillment is through Amazon whether you buy...

    Help! Floating Soap scum ahead...

I've used Kaolin clay in mine with great success. I've been using the recipe from Dean Wilson that he posted on his youtube video with great success. The polysorbate 80 is the emulsifier and surfactant which should negate any serious floating bits. Perhaps there is not enough of your...

A couple of medicinal salves and a soap.

So a friend of mine was telling me that her boyfriend has eczema and/or psoriasis and that she wanted to make a Devil's Club salve to help him out. I have a couple of other friends and coworkers that suffer from the same thing. So I suggested that I teach her to make a pine tar soap for him to...

    Other hobbies.

Man where do I begin with my hobbies?lol Besides soapmaking I also make bath bombs, lip balms, and medicinal salves. I have several raised bed gardens the biggest being 16'x32'. Also have a 12'x24' garden and several 4'x16' raised beds. Oh and a small 10'x20' greenhouse. Make jams, jellies, and...

How do you melt your oils?

I do the same thing. But instead of the bags I just use canning jars/lids. I always have plenty of jars on hand and like you said the smaller portion is much easier to melt. I melt my hard oils in a double boiler. I think I paid $15 for my last one on Amazon. I don't sell or make large batches...

Gardeners: ISO true red bee balm (monarda)?

Ordered most of my seeds back in December and yes I also found some things out of stock. Fortunately I found them elsewhere but paid a bit more due to shipping. My favorite seed company is Baker Creek heirloom seed company. https://www.rareseeds.com/ They sell only heirloom varities so you can...

    Labelling & Selling CP & M&P

    Lip Balm Questions

I just make for my own use and gifting. I use a filling tray for mine and that is truly the best/easiest way to go. They are not that expensive and last forever. I also use the heat gun to remove the divot. I guess that's just how I've always done it. I usually use peppermint EO and sweet almond...

    Time for Zucchini Tricks

Was going to post a picture but it says I don't have permission for that. But I was gone out of town for work for a couple weeks and left instructions for my parents to come over and harvest whatever they needed out of my garden. Apparently they only harvested a handful of zucchini and only gave...

    Freezer Paper made of Gold?

It is interesting to learn about things like this from other countries. Who would have thought freezer paper is so hard to get and so expensive overseas when it is so readily available here in the US? Especially since Reynolds is such a large company you would think they could get into the...

How much soap is in your house?

I'm just a hobbyist and make as needed. I've only made a few of batches so far. I'm down to my last bar now so I'll need to get going on it soon. But I also enjoy making bathbombs, lip balms, salves, jam, jelly, syrup, etc. So I can always make those when I'm not making soap.

I'm at work and only have access to my phone. I attempted to copy and paste but it's not working for me today. But it does show up for me in the video description everytime I look.

    Time for Zucchini Tricks

You know I did just harvest quite a bit of wild Chammomile. My favorite tea is homemade from wild harvest. 3 parts ground Chaga to one part wild Chamomile.
