    Soap Analysis Please

You will still follow the calculator instructions, just change the settings so you get a 25% lye concentration. This isn’t the calculator I use so I’m not exactly sure how to accomplish that. It should be pretty straightforward. If not, I know others here use this calculator.

    Browsing soap pics

Beautiful soap. I would love to know how they got that color of green. Love the color combo too.

    Coffee Fragrance Oil

I really like BB Dark Roast Coffee. I have also used their Cafe Latte and Espresso. My friends and family seemed to prefer the dark roast coffee also. BB often has sample sales where you can get a discount on multiple sample size bottles. I have found these FOs will stick and stay true. I have...

    “What is this soap for?”

I also have a base recipe, mine is high in lard. I add coffee with no fragrance for the kitchen. In June I made a triple rice soap using the same recipe which I am liking on my face. The only significantly different soap I make, which is absolutely necessary for me, is a 100% coconut oil salt...

    Why is this not zappy?

Same! Always something new to learn. Yes! @AliOop is amazing!

    Why is this not zappy?

Thank you! So. Much. To. Learn! When people ask me about learning to soap I usually say it’s pretty easy to make a basic soap but it can also be extremely difficult. The more I learn the more I realize I have so much more to learn.

    Why is this not zappy?

I started to reply then deleted it because I’m not sure it was helpful after reading the other comments but then decided to reply as it doesn’t seem your initial question was answered and now I am wondering if I understand. Whew, that’s a long sentence! If I’m understanding correctly, the soap...

What's for Dinner tonight ? What are you having ?

Ali would you share your GF zucchini bread recipe? I have just started navigating the change to GF and I do feel better. I just need to figure out how to use GF flours. Artemis, hope the boys feel better soon and the rest of the house doesn’t get the plague too.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Thanks for sharing this! I am planning on making a batch of concentrate today and was considering adding IPM or dimethicone. Now I will use IPM first. I really like the concentrate and am experimenting on how to get less soaping.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I also see greens and browns. It reminded me of my old army uniforms. @dmcgee5034, you see pinks? That is so interesting! I am somewhat color challenged with shades of different colors. Maybe it’s the difference in our screens?

Kind of a weird question about moulds

I have a couple of the molds recommended above. One side is still flat. When I remove the soap from the mold I run a vegetable peeler around the sharp corner where the rounded portion meets the flat portion. I also bevel all of my soaps because I don’t like that sharp corner on bars that I cut...

Entry thread for the September 2022 SMF Soap Challenge - Hybrid soaps, pouring CP and MP together.

Thanks for the info on melt and pour. That gives me a place to start. As far as I can tell, there is no way to tell if someone has left unless they announce their departure and you see that post. I’m sure a lot of people come here for a specific question, get an answer and move on or get busy...

ENTRY THREAD for July 2024 SMF Challenge - Woodgrain Designs

I used a technique similar to the I Dream In Soap tutorial. Some of my batter traced a bit quicker than I would have liked so the layers aren’t as consistent as they could be. For colors, I used natural, chocolate brown mica, cocoa powder (because I ran out of chocolate brown mica) and red oxide...

Entry thread for the September 2022 SMF Soap Challenge - Hybrid soaps, pouring CP and MP together.

I have been thinking of using melt and pour for embeds and shapes on the tops of my soaps. What base do you like? I know nothing about melt and pour. Except that some can sweat.
