You “nailed” it1 I looked at your soap, turned my iPad to my husband and said, “Doesn’t this look exactly like the Northern Lights”? Beautiful!!

    Frightening Canning Procedures

Depends on the tomatoes. sadly, many (most) that we buy today are lower acid and need to be pressure canned as well. So annoying!

    Frightening Canning Procedures

No. Most Amish do not use boiling water bath to can low-acid foods. We have a large Amish community here and they use pressure canners just like the rest of us.

    Frightening Canning Procedures

And, sadly, we used to be able to process tomatoes in a boiling water bath - no more! The vast majority of the tomatoes we buy today are lower acid and have to be pressure canned as well - so frustrating but - I still love preserving my own foods!

How much and which essential oil? And which honey?

What is natrium hydroxide? I would use a fragrance oil (usage rate as indicated by the company from which I make the purchase). Bramble Berry makes a nice wildflower honey fragrance oil). If you want color, I would opt for a mica or, if you are going natural, tumeric. Honey is only going to...

    Are my ingredients correct

Rule of thumb - Never ever use a recipe until you have run it through a soap calculator. 125F is way too hot to begin with. Your water is 2.5:1. It should be around 1.8:1. Go to Soapcalc.net and use the link at the top of the page for directions for use. Or go to ModernSoapmaking for tips. You...

It's a Dog eat Dog world out there!

So, if a business fails, no other company should step up and fill that void? All companies profit from those who have failed in one way or another. It is not unethical to fill a void.

    Lip Ivo?

Does the chocolate flavor come through the mix? If so, how/can it be eliminated? I make lavender/peppermint lip balm and would like to try this butter but not if I have to contend with a chocolate flavor. It would not benefit me. Sounds like a great butter though!
