    My Pyrex Adventure

As I learned! I have always been diligent about not mixing my lye water in Pyrex but I thought I was safe - ah - live and learn! At least no one got hurt.

    My Pyrex Adventure

I was unhurt (thankfully). What a mess - I tried to look at it as both a learning experience and an opportunity to do a deep clean.

My first CP project, I think I totally messed it up, what to expect?

Only when I think something went awry. I don’t “lick the bar,” I simply touch my tongue to the bar - if there’s a problem, it zaps.

    Honey disaster in CP

My last two batches of Chamomile achieved partial gel. My customer hates it and so I am stuck with two orders that I will have to donate (I regularly donate by end cuts but this is ridiculous). I will clear out a shelf in my freezer for soap. I simply cannot afford to have this happen. glad...

    My Pyrex Adventure

I was making a couple of batches of soap and, as usual, I planned to melt only my cocoa butter as I use the heat transfer method but don’t want to stir forever. I have always melted my cocoa butter in my Pyrex cups. And so, I measured out by 8 oz. of cocoa butter and popped it into my microwave...

What type of a container do you use to mix your water (liquid) and lye?

I use juice mixing pitchers that I buy at the Dollar Store. #5 plastic is the key. These are not disposable. I mix my lye in them, wash them out, repeat. The ones I currently use I have had for over three years. The minute I read about the issues with Pyrex, etc., I stopped using them. True or...

Our daughter-in-law has asked for a lavender/peach and a lavender/hibiscus soap. So, I understand that I will need those two fragrances but shoujld I also be using a third fragrance to “anchor” the overall scent. What do you all think/recommend?

How much faster does tallow trace than lard?

I agree. I have seen no difference in either the tallow or lard I have rendered compared to that which I have bought.

Options About Adding Earl Grey Tea to CP Liquid & Bar Soap

I make Earl Grey soap and never freeze my tea. I just let it cool and then add Bergamot as the Earl Grey scent does not endure.

I do too! They work great!

    silicone cup for lye solution?

Should be fine. I use the #5 plastic juice containers that I buy at our local Dollar Store- they are super cheap, last forever, and work great. deep enough for stirring and have a spout for pouring.
