    Indoor Grill Recommendations?

Our new oven has a built in air fryer option which we love! gave our Ninja air fryer to our local aide society; they will see that it gets a good home. Our daughter did not want it. We are low-tech grillers - we use a Hibachi. There are just the two of us so it does everything we need.

    Lye Humidity Issues

I just bought 80# of lye from them. I transfer the 2# bottles into 1# bottles (theirs) because the 1# bottles are easier for me to handle - have been doing this for a few years now. I have never experienced any oiliness (live in mid-Missouri and, man, it does get humid here!). I think your...

    Discolored soap

If VCS is Virginia Candle Supply, I just ordered from them two days ago without incident. Received order confirmation so I would say they are still doing business. My order came to $60 and shipping was 414. I am in Missouri. Where are you? Distance is generally one of the main drivers for...

    Wax melts and sachets

I have been making wax sachets with beeswax/soy wax (half and half). I have, however, just ordered some parasoy as it is far less expensive and Insee no reason that it should not work well. To melt, I use a small metal stainless steel<pot (with handle)and a hot plate. Works great.

    advice please for my formula

    Discolored soap

That has never worked for me so I now simply plan for discoloration.

What are these white spots on my CP soap?

Always doubt the teacher. Get into the habit of running every new-to-you recipe through a soap calculator. I’m sure your teacher was very knowledgeable but please get into the habit of verifying. “Trust but verify.”

1st day of soap making... A few trouble spots I would love some input on...

Agree and would add to always run your recipes through a soap calculator and learn what the numbers mean-Soapmaking Friend is my go-to now.

Can I salvage a brick of soap with glass shards on it?

I would not do it! I was soaping a few months ago and heated some cocoa butter in my Pyrex cup; it blew up. I ended up trashing two batches of soap (would have yielded to bars of soap). It killed my to do it but I tossed it all. Never again will I heat anything in glass when making soap.

    OT: Weird experience at gym

Every time I go to the gym now, I would stop at the front desk and ask if it is “safe” to use the showers. If they get snarky, just tell them that, apparently, they have little respect for the privacy of their members and so you will continue to check on the status until the remodel is done. I...

    How does this look???

I have switched to powdered gm exclusively and will never go back. It has made my “soap life” life much easier.

Source for ROE? And question about usage.

So funny - I was going to recommend that she read the articles on ClassicBells.com and here you are! Lucky for us all. Thanks you. I referenced your site or exactly the issues discussed. ~ ; )

If I lose my business license, can I still sell?

Makes me wonder about my business. I now sell wholesale only to two businesses; one owned by our son and his family (it is a lavender farm and I make all of their soaps/body butters/linen sprays, etc.) and the other is a very small specialty conveniency store. I do not show any retail sales...

Is it normal for a broken bone to hurt during a rainstorm?

I wonder if CBD ointment might help with the pain. I am getting a new knee (revision and replacement) in the fall and my knee hurts so bad some days. I went to our local dispensary and they pointed me to some CBD ointment that uses Arctic Ice as its base. It works wonders! Of course, the relief...

    goat milk powder

I use GMP exclusively and love it! I will never go back to using liquid goat milk. I do not soap with vinegar - have had no problems with incorporating powdered goat milk into my oils.

    Small bumps on soap surface...

The bumps are probably from using a wire cutter. They will go away when you plane your soaps.

New soaper in need of encouragement... and advice. Thanks in advance!

I had no idea that essential oils would cause DOS. I have some lavender 40/42 that is unopened but is from 2023. Now I am not sure if I should use it - or not…

Master's Brush Soap & Preservative ... looking for copycat recipe??

See if you can find the MSDS for the product - that should list the ingredients. Nope - I checked the MSDS - nothing - nada - sorry.

    tooth soap

I use baking soda to brush - very successfully. Haven’t had a cavity or gum disease in ages - my teeth are nice and white as well. My dentist approves. Just wet the toothbrush, dip in soda and brush. Works great! I follow up with Colgate rinse.
