    I am the snake wrangler

Well I'm not crazy about snakes, but I don't hurt them either. This evening I saw my first rattler. He was just a baby, but coiled up near my front door was not where I wanted him to be. After watching him a while, from a few feet away we went inside and left to him to go on his way. I was...

    Preservatives - Your opinions

While I personally agree with you, I'm very aware, as I'm sure you are too, that there is a population of people who disagree. These are the ones who run to sue because coffee is hot, and burns when spilled. Unfortunately these same people would never admit that they dipped wet fingers into the...

    Preservatives - Your opinions

When you sell you need to think further than what did I put into the product and think about how could someone possibly use this product. If the answer involves having the product near water where it could become contaminated always use a preservative.

Customer Asking for Info about Allergic Reaction

When my daughter was 6months old I ate some imitation crab (fish) with my hands then picked her up. She had my thumb print welts on her front and 4 finger welts on each side of her back. Brought her to an allergy specialist and they told me she was highly allergic to all fish but not shellfish...

    Bath Bomb Labeling

    Allergy question of sorts...

Honestly if it is a severe allergy I would not risk it. I'm sure it is possible but if you left even a hint behind and his allergy were severe enough . . . Well I just would use a different mold and avoid all doubt. If you use a wooden mold (or loaf) mold you can easily line it with freezer...

Prefrences, new window or same page?

Most of the time, same window different tab. However if it is something I will be using, a lye calculator for instance, then I open in a new window but only because I use two monitors so I can drag it onto the other monitor so I can still see everything.

    5 Most Popular Scents?

Three of those agree with my experience. Lavender always sells well. Gardenia is a big seller for me, and grapefruit is a big seller as well- although it is a bigger seller in lotions than it is in soap (for me that is).

    I quit.

I usually won't post about my mistakes, because if no one knows about them - it never happened! But seriously if I had a nickel for all the mistakes I've made over the years it would pay for my soaping habit! Everyone makes them, no body likes them, but the wise learn from them.

    Bath Bomb

If you want to use micas, add poly-80 at the same amount as any oil you add. This will prevent the mica ring in the tub and help prevent staining issues. Remember micas will not color the water for that you want to use colors made for bath bombs. (See above posters suggestions, WSP & liquids...

    Infusing water with herbs?

I had to laugh when I read that. When I lived in CT I could grow the same things as you - but my rosemary died. Now here in Arizona I'm struggling to keep my basil and oregano alive but the rosemary is taking over! I'm not doing anything to it either, its on a drip line once a day. I guess it...

Customer Asking for Info about Allergic Reaction

I would send her the complete list of ingredients and recommend she take the baby to an allergy specialist immediately. Don't try to make any speculation as to the cause, you are not a doctor and you don't want her to perceive your advice as that of an expert. With the list of ingredients an...

    50,000 people

Short answer - every single bar I could make that was ready for sale. Or if that was not possible, every bar I could fit into my vehicle. Point is you can store extra product under your table, but you can't run home to get more if you run out. In this case, more is better.

    Ph madness, help please!

First don't worry too much. If there was no zap then the soap is not lye heavy - no matter what color your drops are. Soap, even liquid soap is going to have a higher PH. It is normal, and nothing to worry about. Remember soap is a wash off product. Having an excess of lye could be damaging...

    Buying Destash? Research before using.

I made this mistake with fragrance oil that was given to me and I made a batch without checking. My family and I used that batch. I would never sell it but after testing it and making sure none of reacted we used it. Most (non skin ) fragrances simply are not tested in skin care products...

    Embarassing moment

Reminds me of how animals think if they can't see you, you can't see them! I guess with humans it works that way with sound! Thanks for the laugh, we've all been there I think!
