    Fo/eo

It can be used safely but be careful of the amount you add. Wintergreen is strong and can cause that mint induced tingling (and / or burning ) of mucus membranes. I would use it more in a hand or foot soap than in a bath or face soap.

High Lard batch with semi-successful swirls!

    Well done! Nice crisp swirls.

The most beautiful packaging/labels I've seen

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Although that label is okay, to me it is certainly not the best I've seen.

Yes, another "How's my label?" thread

I like the logo in B&W. If it were me I would eliminate the outer circle. For my own designs it would open up the logo a little.

    How much to bring/make?

As for how much to bring. Start making soap, when you no longer have anywhere to cure it and your dining room table can not be used for eating or 6 weeks before your first event stop. You can now start making your labels and signs, but don't label that soap for at least 4 weeks. This is the...

What % does USPS actually deliver to you on time?

I get all my packages on time but sometimes UPS doesn't come until after 6pm for me. I'm a bit out of the way I guess. There was one time my package didn't come, when I went back and checked the tracking it said rescheduled, I called and asked about it. Come to find out the truck got a flat...

Coming over to the lard side

There is a small portion of the population who are super smellers. They can detect small differences others can not. I believe I read it was less than 5% of people who can do this. You may be one Dill. Thankfully I'm not cursed with that affliction. (I couldn't even imagine being a soap...

    Soap 2 Go

You know, if you don't mind using a preservative, I don't see why you couldn't add small amounts of water at a time to reach the right consistency for a squeeze tube that could be filled by piping.

100% Unscented Coconut Oil Soap smells like baby puke

I'm curious as to whether the soap has a full cure on it. Sometimes when I cut 100% coconut soap it is still fairly hot and the middle is still gel like. (I only use it for laundry soap so pretty isn't a factor. ) this is the only time I've ever gotten an odd smell. It doesn't happen when I...

Soapmaker 3 Software. Should I buy it?

When setting up the program the first thing you do is put in all invoices you have for all ingredients, packing materials, etc. now the program knows what things cost. Next you adjust your inventory to what you have now. Next you add all your recipes, including your packaging. Now...

Facebook Photo of The Week on Soapqueen

Less than you deserve Seven. Your soaps are absolutely beautiful. I haven't bought soap since I've been making it. Not from the store or a crafter, however yours is the only soap I've even considered buying (see long ago post) and I would have if I could have!

Best simple EO combos for a "manly" scent?

Try equal amounts of coriander, cedar wood, and sandlewood, then take 1/2 the amount of lavender and 1/4 the amount of frankincense. This makes a nice manly scent. So if your using drops you'd go: 20 drops each of the first three, then 10 drops of lavender, and 5 drops of frankincense...

Recipe size- fl oz to actual weight

If this is for a science class I would not use goats milk. You would be wanting to show the reaction of the oils and the lye. I would stick with very simple ingredients. Milk can cause problems in soap such as overheating and scorching - why bother with it. If I were trying to show soap...

    Leaking Jars

I'm going to assume the sugar scrubs are oil based and not emulsified. In that case you need to decide if you want to keep using your current jars. If you do then yes electrical tape will work although it may look a bit unsightly. You can also look into getting sealing disks that work by...

    Sad day for soaping!!!!

I have a feeling that recipe used way more than the usual 1 Tbsp PPO. Possibly more than double from the looks of the oozing.

    Preservatives - Your opinions

Sorry Flyby, if you have a better one to cite that will make the point please, by all means. . . (Yes I know the truth about the mcdonalds incident, however it is still used as an example. Most people understand the issue by citing that incident, even if the truth of the lawsuit was sustained. )

    Planer

This is the one I have and I love it. No blades to change, you can submerge the entire thing for cleaning, easy to use, and takes off the thinnest slice at a time. To take off more at a time you increase pressure on the soap...

    Rebatch photos

They tried to get us to switch to metric back when I was young (70's), but people refused to use it. I remember them trying to teach us in school, I'd bring home homework and ask my parents for help - they told me to "never mind that" and wrote the teacher a note at the bottom. (I don't remember...
