    Is this partial gel?

Well it is definitely gelling... I went to check on it and came to this Is there any way I can help it gel all the way through? Should I put it in the oven? Cover in towels? Or just leave it be?

    Is this partial gel?

I left it in the fridge from 8pm last night til 8 this am. Haven't unmolded yet because I am making myself wait 24hrs. I thought it was an airbubble too but after further inspection don't think thats the case. I used a fragrance that is known to discolor to tan and made sure to mix really well...

    Is this partial gel?

Ugh.... the top is soooo pretty. I am so confused. I thought gelling started from the center and worked its way out. I will try to unmold tonight, seeing as this is way harder than the beer soap. Can I rebatch milk soap?

    Is this partial gel?

This is my GM soap from last night. I went super slow when mixing my milk slush and lye and soaped around 80degrees. i put the mold immediately in the fridge. The top and bottom look perfectly colored and creamy, there are just patches of darker soap on each side.

Please help with my Goat's Milk Recipe

Thanks Isg, I will try that. I bought palm kernel flakes specifically for this recipe so I guess I will find another use for it :-) Hlee, Thanks! It is still gooey and even has finger prints from me removing it from the mold, but I am hoping it will "grow up" to be a hard bar :-)

Please help with my Goat's Milk Recipe

After the gooey beer soap debacle, I am a bit apprehensive of another slab soap with low hardness numbers. I would love any input in adjusting this recipe. I want to use the GM soap recipe from soap making resource. The recipe is as follows: Olive oil 50% Palm Kernel Oil 10% Rice Bran Oil...

    gooey beer soap

Badged, I have wondered the same thing as I would love to make root beer soap for my nephew. As for the light color, I think its because I mixed my lye and beer over a period of 6hrs (my teething infant mad sure of that). I just added a little lye at a time and kept it outside in the cold. The...

    gooey beer soap

Still pretty gooey on the outside. I am hoping the dry air of this "winter" will help. So how do I go about gelling without getting a volcano? I waited til 70ish degrees to mix and still got a thick trace pretty quickly....

    gooey beer soap

I thought you weren't suppose to let beer soap gel because you risk a volcano. I was apprehensive about the recipe in general. What are you other future beersoapers using as a recipe? I also found a recipe of 44% crisco, 28% olive oil, 28% coconut oil. Do you think this one would work better?

    gooey beer soap

Made my first batch of beer soap two days ago and I am feeling ok about it. I used a slab mold and just unmolded it today. It seemed very creamy, almost too creamy. It seemed almost gooey on the outside, like lotion. As this is my first time using my slab mold and making beer soap, I am unsure...

    Another temperature question

Thanks so much for the replies! I am attempting the beer soap tomorrow so we will see how it goes. I did end up boiling my beer because I set it out 3 days ago and it still wasn't flat (super beer I guess). I guess I was just wondering the chemistry behind having the temps approximately the...

    Another temperature question

This is kind of a continuation of other threads, but I need clarification. I am interested in making beer soap and milk soap eventually and I read somewhere that I could mix all my oils the night before. Can I also do this with my lye mixture? And when bringing everything to proper...

    Antioxidant question

Wow! That is some awesome shelf life. I would assume that soap was made with an animal fat? So I just ordered some vitamin E. What oils are more likely yo produce orange spots? Should I be putting vit E in all my oils? Would this mess up my lye calculations? Thanks for the insight! There is sooo...

    Antioxidant question

Hello All. I have been a lurker for quite some time as I obsessed about making soap until tax money came in. Now I am up and running (kinda) and have so many questions. Thanks for all the help you have given me thus far (as I lurked) :) Now on to my question: I know some people use...

    Goat's milk in rebatch

So if I use regular goats milk, how long will the bar be fresh? Do I risk the chance that the bar will sour? The batch is 1.5 weeks old and I did not take any remarkable water discount as this is only my second batch of soap. Also, I would really like to add breast milk to this instead of goats...

    Goat's milk in rebatch

So I made a bastille soap (olive oil and castor oil) and I am not liking the way it looks so I want to tackle a rebatch with the end pieces and add goat's milk. Now I know using any milk with cold process somehow processes the milk so it does not sour, but is that also the case when rebatching...
