    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

I managed a pretty long evening in the shed, and am now mulling over the successes, failures, and challenges that lay ahead for the next couple of days. Plans B and D are actually moving forward ... kinda parallel-play style. Some of the dough is workable and some still wants to be sticky...

    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

lol, I am down to Plan D now. My dough still has mostly sticky-gloop features and my Saturday has just been decimated with another commitment. Still, I have started some assembly for Plan D and am trying refrigeration in the hope it will firm the dough up and make it a little more workable...

    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

Ditto, still too soft and sticky for my intentions. Lovely bold colours, as desired, but no so workable. We will see :-)

Yeah, that burnt water ball ticks a lot of the boxes I'm looking for. Great work. thanks.

Gloss / Glazed finish to soap?

https://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/melt-and-pour-soap/new-years-eve-party-favors-2/ has a little bit on soap-paint, a paint made of soap for painting soap: Soap Paint: In a small mixing bowl, combine 2 parts liquid soap, 1 part clear melt and pour soap, 1 part rubbing alcohol, 1...

Gloss / Glazed finish to soap?

I am looking for a highlight gloss option, rather than the coating of an entire bar ... like a small pool of water in a soap sculpture. Thanks for the thoughts, three options are still 'alive' and I'm going to experiment with each. 1. M&P. I've ordered a block of 'crystal clear' M&P and will...

Gloss / Glazed finish to soap?

Thanks, yes clear M&P crossed my mind but I think it's a bit beyond my repertoire (and budget) right now. Still, I'll have a look at that link and explore the options a little. I guess I could order a minimal quantity of clear M&P base. Yeah, one day I guess. ^^. Thanks.

    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

Ditto, around 250g. Needs a few more days though. I could not resists though, and some is now divided off into some beautifully coloured balls - vibrant red, a beautiful golden yellow, an iridescent mid-green, and some very stark white. I have a plan, but not a lot of confidence (illusion) that...

Gloss / Glazed finish to soap?

Thanks. I will do some researching on that term.

Gloss / Glazed finish to soap?

My searches are not yielding much :-( Is there some way of adding gloss / glazed accents to soap ... without messing up the innate soap-I-ness? I have not yet tested but egg-white and sugar syrup are is the most likely options I can think of. Glycerin and oil may be fine for many foodstuffs but...

I get to try my first cured soap tonight!

Gardening! Or car repairs! Go do something very dirty-making, then you can take several bars and spend a long long time in your quality control testing. I admire your fortitude.

    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

Ahhh thanks. Oooops, I will remedy. It did seem very structured, so I feared I would transgress rules. I daresay my wife will equate my approach to rules with my approach to operator's manuals and maps. 1. CaraBou - Doh! I need to figure this out! 2. earlene - So exciting! 3. amd - tapping into...

New-guy does SMF challenge: The Soap Dough Saga

I just discovered (was advised) of a rule about posting elsewhere. Please excuse me, I'll edit-empty these. Sorry all.

    February SMF Challenge- Soap dough

Brand new to soap - well six weeks now - and I'm gonna give this challenge a try. I have just bagged a 250g batch of intending soap dough batter and will start chanting, burning incense, and sacrificing small animals in the hope that it will turn into something usable. The batter itself was...

    I'm getting frustrated with EOs

I am new to soap making, but have already decided that scents and colours are black magic arts. My children are refusing to be ritual sacrifices, so I am stumbling my way through that dimension of trying to make soap. Good luck, you are not alone.

    Making a wooden soap mold

I made my noob-mould from scrap timber lying around in the shed. It has three of the four sides entirely removable, so I can easily alter the dimensions. It is a bit awkward to use though, because I saw no need for any fastenings, just using a pair of frame clamps to hold it in whatever...

    Browsing soap pics

Ditto, just awesome. I like them all but think my favourite is probably the dragon eye.

Fats, and oils - what and where?

Absolutely. The kitchen industry wholesaler has taken on a whole new meaning to me now. At present I'm still boggling along the lines of "Hey, I did not even know you *could* make an oil from that" but have also found myself returning home and looking up the properties of oils for soap-making...
