Stearic can make your soap seize if you use too much. Best used for hot process, IMO.

olive, coconut, palm, castor and whatever butter I happen to have on hand. I like kokum and cocoa best. Not a fan of shea. I LOVE virgin avocado oil when I want to treat myself (and feel like having green soap on hand).

I get a bit frustrated with botanical colorants because of the color changes that happen during saponification or during cure. I use mostly clays, oxides, and micas. The botanicals I do use are calendula, madder root, comfrey, nettle, annatto and cocoa powder, sometimes alkanet.

I would use "hand-crafted" or "artisan" soaps. This reflects your artistry and creativity but also enables you to sidestep the critics who believe that handmade only applies to CP or HP.

Coconut and shea have a fair amount of stearic so they can substitute (sort of) for palm. Rice bran oil or olive oil -60%. They are very similar in soap so you could use one or the other or both. Coconut oil - 20% Shea butter - 10% Cocoa butter - 10%
