    Hot Process too Soft?

Ye Yes, I've found that CP is certainly better with time, but I'll test on my hands within a couple weeks. I'm sure the same will be the case with the HP. I'll just go ahead and do a few more CP batches because I'll need them anyway. :) Speaking of "better with time," I made a brine soap...

    Hot Process too Soft?

I actually did, I generally do a water reduction with this recipe. I have another batch of the same recipe ready to go so I'll reduce the water a little. Thanks! Thanks! I'll play it safe and hold this one to the side till the last minute. I did know that the drying time was the same, but I...

    Hot Process too Soft?

I didn't think I'd be asking this particular question...LOL! OK, I'm not a novice soap maker but I tried HP for the first time last night. I used a recipe that calls for a lot of softer oils with 20% coconut, because in CP yogurt is added at the end and it moves really quick. I figured by...

    Easy recipe with farm ingredients

LOL! I've been soaping for over 15 years and I'm still a beginner. There are always pioneers out there developing new recipes and new designs. I always come here and to some of the other forums when I have a question...generally someone knows. Have you used SoapCalc yet? That's a great...

    Easy recipe with farm ingredients

Remember, if you're doing a demo, you want to keep it simple, not only for yourself, but for those watching. So I'd stick with a basic 4 ingredient like the one that was posted earlier. I used to make beeswax soap all the time, the wax melts at a VERY high temperature and really amps up trace...

    Does everyone zap?

I've done it a couple times but I really don't see the point. At about 4 weeks I'll take a bar and wash my hands with it, and if it doesn't dry me out, I assume its going to be okay. I've used PH strips too, and same thing, it not particularly exact so I don't really see the point. I've only...

Coloring Black and White a Soap

I play with black quite a lot, and unfortunately, to get a good black you will wind up with grey lather. I generally incorporate black into a swirl and that certainly lessens the greying. I've also used black oxide and haven't found a lot of difference. I'd suggest the AC and starting at about...

    Cucumber soap

Hey there, I found a nifty recipe for a cucumber soap, and was wondering, if I puree the cuke and don't strain it, will the green flecks of skin eventually go brown? Same with aloe vera, I have aloe all over the place and would love to incorporate it into soapmaking. I like the idea of not...

    BrambleBerry policies

Yes, location makes a lot of difference. I ordered from NG and though they shipped very quickly, it took 10days for the product to arrive. And when I ordered from Bulk Apothocary, over 3 weeks. So I guess the moral of the story is if you're in a hurry, order regionally. :)

    Help with sweaty soap?

Awesome! Thanks, guys! I would prefer to use CP but its so much faster to make up a bunch of MP embeds.

    brambleberry silicone mold sale

Thanks for posting this! I thought I'd imagined hearing about the sale. LOL!

    Help with sweaty soap?

Thanks, Dorymae! I'll do that. :) Next time I do embeds I'll do CP. I just had the MP on hand and thought I'd give it a try. The soap actually looks gorgeous and the mica shimmered even though the base was opaque. I may try it with transparent MP sometime.

    BrambleBerry policies

You can calculate shipping right at your cart, the form is on the right hand side of the page where it says "Shipping Estimate."

    BrambleBerry policies

I've never, never had a problem with Brambleberry, so it always surprises me when people do. Shipping is usually by ground when they ship FO so that does slow down things if you're not on the west coast. I always know that if I order on a Monday, I'll have my order by the end of the week. The...

So I need to clean it up and seal it?

    Help with sweaty soap?

I'm sorry if this topic has come up, but I now remember why I don't use MP very much. :( I made a lovely batch of CP soap with opaque MP embeds. I cut a week ago and just checked it, and the embeds are all beaded with sweat. And its so bad, the cut glycerine soap is kinda lumpy. I also did a...

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

I work my butt off when I do MP! LOL! I much prefer making CP. And I do charge the same because I buy quality MP base so the cost is similar. And I'll share this nugget: my daughter is a private chef and she works for clients like Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. She uses cake mixes and dresses them...

    My latest creation: coconut cream

Very nice! I've been doing coconut cream soap a lot lately and just loving it. The texture is so wonderful, isn't it? I may never go back! LOL!

    Your all-time favorite soap

This is very similar to my regular bar, but I've been experimenting lately. I do Olive, coconut, tallow or lard, shea, castor, and avocado. I dissolve silk and use coconut water and coconut creme for the liquid. Sometimes a little bentonite for slip. This one has bentonite and activated charcoal.
