What advice would you give to your beginning soaping self?

I need an answer about spritzing alcohol on bars of soap to get rid of the forming soda ash: Do you spry it on the wet soap batter, or after you see it forming on the bars after a few days of curing?

    Fragrance's

I only use fragrance-don't have any essential. I made some beer soap this morning without the essential called for. Maybe it will be o.k.

    Fragrance's

My fragrance doesn't last very long either. Maybe I need to add a little bit more to recipe. Doesn't it say "use no more than 5%"?

    neem oil

Thank you soo much for the info. I did not know where to find info on neem. I am only going to use 4% of neem in my soap, so maybe that is just "barely" neem use. Just got it from Bramble Berry. Hope it is going to be o.k.

    neem oil

I am going to try a neem soap. I understand the odor is garlic-like. What fragrance is going to be o.k.? Or should you even put a fragrance?

Only my peppermint CP soaps develop DOS!

I was wondering if spearmint/mint f.o. would do the same dos problem in c.o. batter as the e.o. I use f.o. only.

    swirling my soap

I have a question about the coloring of the soap. I understand the excess colors will rub off - I made a few bars of soap and the "fragrance" made it dark brown. It is still curing. Is it going to color the suds and wash cloth?

Rehab the hair (or how to get away from lye based shampoo)?

I have a question about shampoo bars. Last night I saw a recipe saying 74 degrees for the oil and 125 degrees for the lye. I have been making soap for my family/friends for years but i have both at 100 degrees. Is that 74 - 125 correct? help before I try it, i don't want to waste all.
