Exchanged about a dozen messages to get it just right. Stamping can be challenging. I use Crafter's Choice silicone molds. Just noticed the price went...

    Soft soap

Coconut Milk adds creaminess and bubbles. Goat/ Cow Milk make a harder bar. However SF% is the main consideration in Soap Hardness.

    Coconut milk is about 71% water Can of CM is 14 oz. 14 X .71 = 10 oz 96 oz oils x 31% water : oil = 29.76 oz water. 29.76 x 3 cans - 30 oz wt of water. Close enough!

    My Three Coffee Soaps

Only scented the middle one, with a Coffee fo, which to many noses was a "Moca" smell. Next time might try to add Peppermint, aka Peppermint Patty. The other two batches did have a nice Fresh Ground coffee note, but has since evaporated. Thank you all for your kind comments :)

One month old castile soap causes dry skin. Why???

Made a "Castile" last Sept using Coconut Milk as liquid. Hard bar, lather is mostly creamy with fewer smaller bubbles, great on the skin. Used soap calc as 92% Olive Oil, 8% Coconut Oil (provided by Coconut Milk).

How to formulate your own recipe

Hello Mrs Larios, without getting into the dimensions of your mold (read the sticky on "calculating mold size"), your 2 lb mold will probably suffice. Maybe cut the water to 32%. Have some plastic cups handy for any possible leftover. Good recipe! Roy

recipe from book, what do you think?

It'll certainly be a hard bar, even with 8% SF. Lard instead of Palm sounds better (and cheaper) to me.

    salt soap

Stick with cold process. You'll end up with "soap on a stick". Roy

    HELP! Vintage bottles.

first check eBay and see what they are going for as is. Mark Twain's pipe would have been a lot more valuable if the seller hadn't removed the Pipe cleaner.

    Solid lotion bars

Freeze, then put the mold in a dish of hot water. The Lotion bars will be cold and the mold should expand with the hot water. Bars pop out more easily. I like using Lotion tubes. No fuss.
