To gel or not to gel

Gigi, the good thing about wooden molds {besides being good insulators} is that you can make them any size you want..they dont have to be bulky. Check my post with my ugly baby tester molds..I love em and wouldnt trade em for nuttin. ugly baby molds And def get a few batches under your belt...

Cranky about people asking for legal advice

Hahaha! I know 'exactly' what you mean. Before I became 'clueless' I was stating wild prices {which actually was the going rate} they looked at me like I was satans spawn

Cranky about people asking for legal advice

I got the same thing concerning computer repair...everyone wanted me to either fix their computer or tell them how to fix it {usually over the phone } I finally got it down to a slow drizzle when I answer with "Im not sure" or "I don't know" They get mad because they know I 'do' know...

    Let's talk TD again...

Yup, bet that extra OO has something to do with it, that and the RBO at like what..7% is what I figured Id do a tester and use the OO from the recipe next time and see if it makes a difference :)

I buy my TD and Kaolin clay there..and they are very generous in the amounts.

    Let's talk TD again...

That recipe should've produced a fairly hard bar, and at 8 weeks shouldn't be mushy..Im wondering did you use OO out of your recipe to mix the TD in, or use extra? I use 1 tsp TD ppo {in water} and have never had it affect my soap

    Soap breaking and crumbling,please help!

To gel or not to gel

I usually let mine do what it wants..I use a wooden mold made of 1/2" lumber so usually if I dont prevent the gel, then they usually do without much insulation {just a towel under the mold is all I do} I dont gel my milk soaps tho, and I soap very cool with those {frozen milk sitting in an ice...

    My first soap pics!

They look great! Congrats! Now you will begin the wait of 'wonder if I can try lathering a piece up?' I do a quicki lather test at 2 days just cuz I can't stand it..I wanna see bubbles made by my own hands even if they aren't very big hahahaha

    Soap breaking and crumbling,please help!

Well if its discounted and then lye heavy...that would cause crumbling. However the bit about the plane of the blade is correct and one I hadn't thought of. If its a wide blade, then as the knife goes down, the top of the knife would naturally push the top of the soap bar outwards causing the...

Those are adorable little signs...and are those little sniffer boxes?

I did it! I did it! I did it!

With the oils you used, I would think it would be fine to wait at least 12 hrs..that's usually when I cut mine with a high % of CO...you def want to wait till the gel phase is over regardless. If you cant stand it, take a gloved finger and push on it after its done with the gel..if its quite...

I did it! I did it! I did it!

Woohoo! Congrats! See..not so skeery now is it? And either parchment paper or wax paper will work, just make sure you turn the waxy side away from the soap if you use the wax paper. Heck, you can even use plastic grocery bags or trashbags if you're in a pinch {or lazy like me lol}...
