    Soap cupcakes - family humor

Yep, I took one of my first cupcake soaps to my moms to show her. She left it out on the counter, my dad who loves sweets picked it up and almost ate it. Mom was laughing. The only saving grace was it was too dense to be any good:D. Dad says I have to label any soap I now drop off.

    Pumice

Start with 1-2 teaspoons per pound of pumice. It really depends on how scrubby you like it. I have used up to 2 tablespoons in 3 pound batches. As for your high coconut oil bar, I have no idea since I've never made one. I'm sure someone will answer you on that.

    Can weather affect outcome?

Thank you. I've spent the last two weeks trying to figure this one out. Never would have thought the mold. I know wood vs silicon would be different but didn't figure load vs slab would make that much of a difference. But looking back it makes perfect sense. Will start writing down which mold I...

    Can weather affect outcome?

Thank you DeeAnna, makes sense and at the same time I would have never thought of that. To be honest this batch has been driving me crazy trying to figure out what went wrong.

    Can weather affect outcome?

No according to my notes. 2x lye amount= masterbatch solution. Water - lye = extra water. To that extra water added 1 tsp each salt and sugar. Then lye mater batch. Sorry not by my notes right now otherwise would have the math. Also triple checked how to use a master batch solution. Measured...

    Can weather affect outcome?

No. Ended up just being high winds and snow. The soap was coloured with green sea clay and pink kaolin clay. The water also had 1 teaspoon of salt. The clays went into the batter undiluted.

    Can weather affect outcome?

No I don't think so. Only difference between the batches (a year in between) is I tried master batching my lye water. I followed Irish lass? Tutorial on weighing everything including the lid. To rule out the lye water tried same recipe again. Normal hard. This is what has me stumped. Humidity...

    Can weather affect outcome?

Is it possible for weather to change the outcome of your soap? Last week during a blizzard like conditions decided to make soap since I was home. The soap is softer than anything I have ever made. I have used the same recipe before but it was hard after 12 hours in the mold. This one feels...

Oh no! Could I be allergic to goat's milk?

You could also mix up your powdered goat milk with water as per the manufacturers directions and do a test spot on your body. A contact rash/allergy usually happens within an hour. Same with your fragrance oil diluted of course. As others have said look at what you ate for the last couple of...

Suggestions for using up hemp oil

Thank you for taking the time to type this out. I took you suggestion of adding CoQ10 and vitamin E. I split the water portion with ACV. No colourant or ROE (not here yet and needed to put everything away for Christmas). So far it currently curing. First impression is the soap is very hard...

Suggestions for using up hemp oil

Thank you everyone! Just ordered ROE should be here next week. From what I've read to anywhere between 17%-24% is safe before DOS. So I like the 20%. I have never used it for cooking, I know it can be used, but I don't think I'll be cooking with it anytime soon. Looked into make lotions, don't...

Suggestions for using up hemp oil

So a friend of mine who's a rep for a hemp oil company asked if I wanted any hemp seed oil and if I could use it. I said I'd take a bottle. Apparently lines got crossed and I received a case and a half of oil that I usually don't use. I know hemp is prone to DOS. Any ideas on how to use this up...

Tea tree and pine tar for dry skin?

Not an expert by any means. I finally made a pine tar soap ( it's been on my bucket list for a while). From what I have read, pine tar to have full benefits is used at 10%. I used 5% in my own with 5% neem oil. Having never used pine tar soap before, it feels waxy? Not sure if that's the right...

    Regular sales?

I purchased my tussah silk from Purple Citrus in Canada. Don't know if they ship to the states but with the exchange rate might be an instant savings.

Why? Why is this even a thing?

Maybe it's for the all the lye free soap recipes out there on the web.

    Count the safety issues

Personally if you watch many YouTube videos, no matter the subject, you'll find safety issues. I think it's up to the person watching to do their own homework and research. Point being Royal appleberry master batches in mansion jars. A quick google search and you find out why glass and lye don't...

    Another Canadian

Hi all, First of all thank you so much for this forum. I've been at this for about three years now, and have learnt so much from all of you. I would still consider myself as a beginner. Now if I could just make one soap the same way I envision it in my head I'd be extremely happy. So the why...
