What soapy thing have you done today?

So far so good. The bar is already hard and my son made it at around 2 this afternoon. The uncolored part of my swirl is really white. I will test it later tomorrow.

What soapy thing have you done today?

For the first time, I'm going to use lard in a soap recipe. I want to see what all the fuss is about :D. Edit: I unmolded my soap this evening. I used turmeric to practice an in the pot swirl. After I added the fragrance and turmeric things moved pretty quickly. It was thick when I poured it in...

Real life experience v/s. Theories - Salt (Sea,Himalayan,Table etc.) in CP soaps

Sorry miscalculated my own recipe. I made 18ozs of liquid and 2oz of that was vinegar so like 11% vinegar. I also reduce my superfat to 3% to account for the vinegar. 8oz water, 8 oz of aloe vera juice, 2 oz vinegar and 2Tb salt and 2Tb sugar. I used white vinegar from the supermarket, nothing...

Always compare shipping cost with order $$

Okay. If I ever used lard it would be the hydrogenated kind. Don't want to mess with refrigeration.

I haven't experimented with lard/tallow yet (and this may sound like a dumb question) but do you have a separate refrigerator for your lard/tallow? I would think you would not store it in a personal use refrigerator due to cross-contamination. I would think they have an expiration date, correct...

Does anyone want to help experiment with vegan 'lard' soap?

There's nowhere in Belgium you can just buy lard soap from a fellow soaper at a store, farmer's market, or online (local)? The soap might be cheaper than swapping and paying for postage. Just a thought...

Real life experience v/s. Theories - Salt (Sea,Himalayan,Table etc.) in CP soaps

I actually make a hardening liquid, which I use as a replacement for water, that has both salt and vinegar (only 2%) and I get a nice hard bar that lasts. Not as long as a commercial bar but it's good.

I've only purchased a few things from BA but I was satisfied and their prices are not bad.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I weighed my soap today. And I decided to start testing my soaps so next batch I will make a few extra bars to give away. I hope to sell some soaps by Christmas.

I think I'm going to stick with BA, unless I find their products subpar. I can drive there and they have a customer pick up option.

I'm not sure but they do have a reward program. The EOs are therapeutic grade but I checked BA's website and the same therapeutic EO is much cheaper. So nope I will not be going with them. I could see if the EOs were organic but that is out of my price range.

    That's a good idea.

Thank you. I not quite ready for EOs yet. I need to put some thought on what qualities I want my soaps to possess. I don't plan on having a lot of EOs just for the sake of having them, that's costly.

My first attempt ... soda ash got me. What to do?

It's still a nice soap even with the ash.

    Unusual soaping oils or ingredients...

I live 30 minutes from Bulk Apothecary and they do allow customer pick up. So when I got there I expected a store that I could browse but nope. It's a corner of a huge warehouse. They do have some things to sample but not much. I'm not complaining because it's cheaper to drive there than paying...
