    Honey Spots

Thank you Irishlass! I can always count on you for a quick informative response. I'm so glad it's not going to be weird or anything. I don't mind the look of it at all, just did not want any problems with performance. It took about 2 years before my parents actually started to ask for...

    Honey Spots

I never soap with honey, but I thought I would make a loaf for my parents. I have read on this forum about the spots and how to prevent them...after I made the stupid soap. I did read to put the warm honey in at light trace and this is exactly what I did. I can't find anything that says how...

    Aromafix?

I wanted to come back and give the results I had with Aromafix. I used it in two test bars using it at 5%. Well, actually one bar had no AromaFix and the other had it at 5%. I soaped them on 10/24/14 and I took them out today to take a smell. The one with Aromafix definitely smells more...

    Psoriasis and coconut oil allergy

Both of my parents have psoriasis and both have it on their scalp. I told my Mom about Free and Clear Shampoo and Conditioner since it's what I use. It has helped them both immensely. I use it since any other shampoo and conditioner made my face break out. I tried for 15 years to figure...

    Least discoloring dairy/milk?

I love milks and other dairy products in my soap, but was curious what others found to be the least discoloring. I usually add them to my oils and soap cool. This helps immensely, but they always cause some kind of discoloration. I'm going to test some tomorrow. I have: buttermilk...

    Stains on counter

I have the exact same stains on my Formica sink. I have tried bleach and comet but they won't budge.

Major price increase in olive oil

Carolyn - do you find the Sunflower oil gives the same slip as olive oil? Rice and Avocado do not in my soaps, Almond does, but I have not tested the Sunflower and was thinking of buying more soon.

    Recommendations for non-bleeding hot pink?

Thanks for the info. I just ordered the raspberry red, red violet and all the Eco neons. Can't wait to play with them!

Why do you think soap is so special to you?...

I have always been very creative and my creativity used to be in baking. Elaborate cakes and fabulous Christmas cookies were my favorite. Everyone told me I should make a living doing it, so I enrolled in baking classes and it was great...until I become too ill to go to class. I discovered...

    Recommendations for non-bleeding hot pink?

Shunt2011 - Beautiful soap! I have the vibrance pink, but even at 2 tsp PPO my color is not that strong. How much did you use to get that lovely color? I'm afraid of using too much for fear of colored bubbles. Fata Morgana - I did not know Nurture Soap had new micas. The raspberry red...

    Recommendations for non-bleeding hot pink?

Thanks Marisajensen! I actually have this one and tested it a long time ago. I can't remember why I did not like it, but I will test it again. I have had bleeding with many of the neons from TKB, like their neon green and yellow. Maybe I have an older batch and they have changed? I will...

    Recommendations for non-bleeding hot pink?

I've looked far and wide and they all either bleed or fade. I have some nice micas, but they are not hot pink. I did like a neon powder from WSP, but they have discontinued it and my tests with the new pinks are not satisfactory. I'm using these in CP soap. Thanks!

Went on a bender @ WSP last night

I second the Sunflower. It's a lovely FO and my experience was the same as DWinMadison's. I like the white tea & ginger. I'm testing it now, but it seems to stick, but I need to wait a few more weeks to really tell. It does not discolor and smells exactly like the one from BB if that...

Black walnut powder or walnut leaves?

I have used the ground walnut powder. You do not need very much at all to produce a nice brown speckle color, but I found it to be too scratchy and never use it. It feels soft when you handle the powder, but in soap it scratches, at least for a body bar. I would only use 1/8-1/4 tsp PPO.

    cost of tallow

Does anyone use the tallow at smart & final? I have not, but saw it recently and made my husband take a pic. It's very inexpensive but contains a preservative.

    Ever Use Jojoba Beads

gse - I started a thread on this a few months ago. Look up jojoba beads and you will find it. I love the look, but they're too scratchy for me. I tossed all the soap I made with them as it was unusable for me.

Can we please talk about super fat?

Cmzaha- thanks for the lye recommendation. I def. need to get it cheaper and somewhere I can pick it up myself. How do you store your lye if you buy in bulk? Do you repackage? I know moisture can be an issue. Good to know the crust on top is not a problem.

    Looking for earthy lavender FO

judymoody - Thank you, good to know. I sometimes try to use Patch to anchor scents, but I hate the scent so much. 1/10th may work and I will try it.

Can we please talk about super fat?

girlishcharm2004 - I forgot that one! Add one more con to the pile. lenarenee - Where do you get your lye from? I get mine from Essential Depot, but lately I noticed it's getting a scum on the top that I don't think I used to get. I'm using distilled water but it's still happening.

    I'm open for name suggestions

I thought it looked like a dragon or a dinosaur. Very cool!
