What soapy thing have you done today?

I unmolded this beautiful log of Abalone Sea just awhile ago. Made it late yesterday evening.

can melt and pour make "pretty soaps"

I've barely dabbled with M&P, but I have seen some gorgeous ones over the years. This is my proudest little dabble.

    Let's talk about make-up.

Not interested in mineral make-up. Mainly for the eyes. Mascara and eyebrows in particular. I've always used Maybelline or Cover Girl. Looking for options for mascara, the washable kind. My eyebrows are almost non-existent. Nothing I've tried has been satisfactory; they just never look right...

    Steaming Soda Ash

Sorry If I was misunderstood. I was simply stating my experience. I got my soap education from Miller soap and the old Dish. It has always worked for me and I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The videos and such may certainly be helpful to others.😊

    Steaming Soda Ash

In my 20+ years of soaping, I've never had a problem with ash. I cover the batches with a silicone strip and then the wooden lid. I only heard of spraying with alcohol here at this forum and it really puzzles me.

    I use 1 tablespoon for a 2 pound batch.

    sugar to lye water

It's not really fine in my experience. It seems to discolor the soap. You are basically cooking the honey. Well now that you've changed the question, you want to make sure your sugar is completely dissolved before adding the lye to the water.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made labels for four batches of soap, packaged and labeled said soap. Maybe with loose ends tied up, I can get back to making soap.

    Silicone rash woes

    Never heard of silicone rash.

    Getting FO mixed in

I also add my fragrance to the cooled oils. The exception would be if I were using a discoloring fo, and would reserve a portion of the mix without any.

Store soap in cotton muslin bag?

I package my soap in muslin bags so after they reach four weeks I put them in, but don't tighten until about another two weeks and add the label.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I was smelling something funky and found a whole batch gone rancid. Positive it was from using a really old fo. Had to pitch it. Now I know better.

    "Cleaning" soap

Until recently I washed all my soaps. Used gloves in slow running lukewarm tap water then lined them up to dry. Turned them every few hours and kept a fan on them. But since switching to my new molds from WSP I have stopped.

    Tallow as body butter?

I would absolutely use tallow or lard on myself. Years ago I made lard lotion for a swap. Most of the swappers liked it.

    Bye bye Shea Butter.

Sounds lovely. I admire people who are successful with product other than soap; I've run the gamut of making other product and I'm just over it. If I do make something other than soap it's for my use only.
