    bacon grease soap

I LOVE the soap I made with leftover bacon grease. It's super bubbly, moreso than my usual lard recipes. Here's the recipe I used: 44% bacon fat 25% coconut oil 26% olive oil 5% castor 3% superfat 35% lye concentration I wet-rendered the bacon fat a couple times to get it nice and clean and...

My Nurture order arrived today, yippeeee! This is my first time ordering their FOs and I gotta say, it was love at first sniff. Wow. Beautiful complex notes. They make WSP smell like cheap perfume. Can't wait to soap with them. My faves OOB are: Awaken Vanilla Cream Flame Tree Juicy Apricot...

    Hello from a lurker.

Welcome welcome! I've been thinking it'd be fun to find (or make a blend) of a library/book type scent. I had a quick poke around Google and this one seems quite promising: https://www.chemistrystore.com/Fragrance_Oils_H_-_W-Leather_Bound_Book_Fragrance_Oil.html One of my favourite oil...

*New Member* and new to the art of soap making

Welcome welcome! You're in the right spot. There is a WEALTH of great info here. I'd recommend starting with the Soaping 101 videos, familiarize yourself with lye calculators (my fave is Soapee) and just sit down with a glass of wine and read through the forum. My favourite way of searching...

    emptying squeeze bottles

I found some silicone piping bags on AliExpress that I use for soapmaking. They work great. If you just leave them to sit with the remnants of soap batter, the batter will harden and when you turn the bag inside out, the batter just flakes right off for easy cleanup. I just have to wash the...

    January Entry Thread

Mine turned out, erm, a bit abstract LOL. My batter wasn't tracing so I poured it very liquidy. It was an interesting learning experience and I'll definitely revisit this technique one day when the soap gremlins aren't around. :D

    Lye first or sugar first?

Definitely BEFORE you add the lye! It's much much easier to dissolve.

    Snake Skin Soap

Wouldn't the shed be too thin and papery to make a proper impression? I'd probably just keep the shed as a cool keepsake, then maybe buy this texture mat to use for soap: http://a.co/dQlYItN

pH issue question to help out a baby soaper

They look very nice, well done. :) I agree with others that zap-testing is much more useful than pH strips. I see your bars have some TD crackle/glycerin rivers - there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and some soapers like the look of it, but if you're not a fan, you can prevent it by...
