Looks like separation due to heat to me as well. Could be the fragrance oil separated out.

Thanks everybody! I'm very happy with the new mica colours I got from Nurture. I used Sea Green, Summer Crush, Really Red and Kombu.

So happy with how these turned out! Can you tell I'm ready for spring? I used Nurture's White Tea and Pear FO and it soaped like a dream. Aloe juice water replacement and my favourite blend of lard and tallow. Micas from Nurture and a sprinkle of loose bronze mica on top. And a hanger swirl!

Nope, I remember watching those Soap Queen videos too and painstakingly trying to get my lye solution and melted oils to 110 degrees at the same time. Sad times... Now I find the easiest thing to do is: Make lye solution in advance (or masterbatch) and give it plenty of time to reach room...

I use a plastic hanger from the dollar store. I just snapped off a chunk of it so it'd fit nicely in the length of my mold.

I find this a bit confusing... Instead of trying a tried-and-true GOOD liquid soap recipe to first see what liquid soap should be, you prefer to randomly develop your own recipes without the core foundation and will probably end up throwing away bad soap until your experiments hopefully turn out...

They turned out great! I have no troubles mixing my TD with mica in oil, I got my TD from Brambleberry. You could always put a tiny bit in oil to test to see if it disperses!

Finally beat down the soaping gremlins and had a perfect soapmaking experience YAY! I tried out the White Tea & Pear FO from Nurture and some new mica colours. Batter stayed nice and fluid and got a hanger swirl in. So excited to cut it up!!

You could split the difference and do 33%, hehe. That's a very commonly used Lye Concentration for CP. Or just go with 30% if you're nervous about water discounts.

I'd recommend using Lye Concentration instead the % of water option, it's generally more accurate and sensible for soapmaking. 30-35% Lye Concentration would be a good option for most cold process recipes.

Sounds like you could benefit from going over the basics of soapmaking! Have you watched the Soapmaking 101 videos on Youtube? Are you familiar with lye calculators to determine the amount of lye you need to use? You should also stick to soap-safe fragrances and colourants.

Looks like ricing to me! Which is most often caused by your fragrance oil. What did you use for fragrance?
