Kind of new to soap, have a couple questions

Real quick mention since you said something about Hobby Lobby: Make sure the scents you get are for cold process/hot process soaps, the ones at hobby lobby are for melt and pour and will seize your batter usually, and candle scents aren't always skin safe. Good luck!

    First soap results

Congratulations! Although you might want to move those out of the plastic bin to somewhere where they can get good airflow.

What happened to my beeswax/honey/shea soap?

That seems like way too little honey to have done something odd, but I've never worked with beeswax before The little hard spots might be stearic? It doesn't seem a recipe high in stearic acid but thats all I can think of. Maybe someone will chime in with more experience. I've never had trouble...

    Scenting CP soap without EOs?

Pine tar soaps and pine rosin soaps have a pretty strong scent! I enjoy it (: Neem soap also has a strong scent but I don't like that one, heh.

Kind of new to soap, have a couple questions

any sugars would give you a good boost to the bubbles- you might try an all lard/tallow oatmeal milk and honey bar, those are things they would have had aren't they?

    Blender problem

It crumbles like that sometimes if you're using a bench scraper or a knife and dont cut it within some kind of magical window thats just right. If you can invest in a wire cutter (my first one was for cheeses! I marked off on its little board where an inch was so I could measure out each bar)

Kind of new to soap, have a couple questions

To be completely honest I would do either a 100% lard or 100% tallow soap, with maybe some beeswax as an additive- although beeswax can be tricky and you have to blend it in at high heat. 100% lard bards are very popular honestly but the 100% tallow will be harder and whiter.

    Blender problem

    Blender problem

When you push it with your finger is it harder at the bottom than the top?

    Blender problem

Pouring the oil into the lye solution is probably your problem here, although its going to be zappy for a couple of days after you make it, try it again in a week. Did you use a knife to cut it? That can make it crumble on the second half because its a wedge shape.

    Blender problem

Different blenders for sure blend a completely different rates, you could have one that's just too weak. I have a very good stick blender, and medium good stick blender and I actually prefer the medium one because the other one is actually *too* good for my little batches, I get splash up from...

    Lard soap

I've used up to 100% in soap before! But usually when I want to do a lard specific soap I do 75%lard, 20% coconut oil and 5% castor oil.

    I have a confession .....

I confess I only bevel when my artistic vision for the soap demands beveling- I don't even have a beveler just a potato peeler. I also never use a thermometer, I dont even own an instant read one. I wear goggles and gloves to soap- but not to wash up the soap bowls- although sometimes those sit...

SMF June 2019 Challenge - Rimmed Soap

I'm pretty excited about how mine turned out- I decided to try to do it using soap dough, which was not without its pitfalls, the design I rolled together tried to fall apart in a couple of places, getting the stuff ti stick to itself but not the mat is a challenge.
