    What are these tiny spots

Hi Both Thankyou for your replies I’m attaching another photo. I do also have some air bubbles - the trace got thick quite quickly, I did hit the loaf on the counter a few times but evidently not hard enough! If it were stearic spots would it mean the soap won’t be good to use? My recipe...

    What are these tiny spots

I’ve just cut my loaf after 24hours and I have these very very tiny white spots, the soap isn’t grainy, it’s smooth to touch though. Can any one help? Thank you.

    Confetti Soap Ideas

Thanks, I thought it might be harder - just that I’ve alresdy managed to snap my wire when I tried a soap insert... think I’ll need a more serious cutter before I try the confetti soap! 😁

    Confetti Soap Ideas

Just wondering - as the soap pieces are harder is it difficult to cut the soap with the wire cutter once out of the mould?

To gel or not to gel

Thanks! All these temperatures to watch 😂 oils, lye and now the oven! I’ll get there... 😂

To gel or not to gel

Yes, I’m definitely going to try on my next batch! Really fed up with this circle in the middle of the soap bars! Pleased to know you’ve resolved the problem. Has any of your loaves cracked at all?

To gel or not to gel

I’ve finally got a few soap batches unfortunately only a couple have fully gelled. I’ve read in the forums that some like a gel some don’t. I’ve decided that I wouldn’t mind either but I really don’t like this ‘partial’ gel that I am frequently getting! I use a silicone mould in a wooden loaf...

    Coconut oil

Hopefully someone can help me in regard to coconut oil. When I buy it just says coconut oil, but on soap calculator it says coconut oil 76 deg Coconut oil 92 deg or fractionated. So I don’t know which one to choose when using the calculator - well I have used fractionated so far! Thank you

    Soap size

Thankyou very much everyone! I’ve definitely got more of an idea now. Just worried my soap bars would look odd. Unfortunately when you give someone a soap they aren’t going to tell you the soap is a bit thin or small etc! 😊 much appreciated!

    Soap size

Thanks, may I ask the width and length of your soap, or do you do various shapes and sizes at 1.25”?

    Soap size

Thanks! Exactly what I thought of doing, from 6/8” to 1” I was previously following the line on the cutter. 😊

    Soap size

Yes, just weighed my bars and they aren’t quite 100gr so I think I’ll make that cut a bit thicker! Thanks 😊

    Soap size

I don’t know if anyone can help me? It’s regarding the size of soap, apart from the shape of a soap - what would the ideal thickness need to be? I’ve been cutting mine at 2cm being 6/8 inch but the more I look at them they seem not quite thick enough? Thanks

First ever batch, I can't figure it out!

That’s good to knows it won’t affect the soap on the long term. Won’t be doing that again, looks like cheese! Thanks!

    Problem after being cured

Just to let you know Earlene, it didn’t work! I put the 6 week old partially gelled soap in the oven and nothing happened- stayed the same! Just done another batch and I’ve covered it with a old jumper, so fingers crossed 🤞 In 48 hours I will definitely take notice if partially gelled!
