Blue mica keeps turning green! Ugh.

After saponification? Meaning after trace? I have not...Im using Brambleberry FO says no discoloration. I also tried using Dewy Rose and Lily of the Valley all saying no discoloration... I thought maybe the first couple tries I didn't put enough mica, so the last one I doubled the amount and it...

Blue mica keeps turning green! Ugh.

My friend ordered soaps for a bridal shower and wanted them to be light blue. I’ve made light blue before but I can’t seem to get the color blue now! First recipe attempted 3x with slightly different methods, I changed my Olive oil to light olive oil, I added TD to my oils, changed the type of...

    Elderly skin CP recipe help

Hello fellow soapers I am trying to formulate a recipe for my grandparents. Here is what I'm thinking for ingredients: Palm 40% Cocoa butter 25% Olive 20% Coconut oil 10% Castor 5% SF 5% LC 33% I was going to add coconut milk for half my water content. No fragrance. Also was thinking of adding...

Looking for a Palm-Free New Basic Recipe

Good to know! I tried it once and I think I remember overall it went well, but had to soap at a higher temp? I like soaping around room temp, which is usually around 80F where I live. I may give it a try again.

Looking for a Palm-Free New Basic Recipe

Wouldnt this be a soft over drying bar? Do you superfat? A little late to this thread, but ive been wanting to make a harder bar with no palm and no animal fats. I’ve tried in the past but the bars still were too soft. Any suggestion? I was thinking maybe up the coconut oil and superfat…use...

    HELP, messed up :(

I made a batch of soap just now for my sisters baby shower...but I'm pretty sure its not going to make it there. I noticed the batter getting REALLY thick so my plans for a nice in the pot swirl went out the window right away. I didn't even get to add my fragrance oil...I went back to look at my...

What are your best practices for preventing soda ash?

Im on the soda ash struggle as well. I usually do not get ash if I pour at a thicker trace, but I notice I get it more when Im trying to do swirls or some design that requires a lighter trace. Today I unmolded and cut my lavender bar and had quite a lot of ash, im thinking due to light trace...

love my 6 month old Salt Bar

Just wondering what is the main reason to have it cure longer? I’ve asked other salt bar makers how long they cure their bars for, and they said 4-6 weeks.

    When to cut

Hmm.. if it’s still warm I’d wait. What is your recipe? I usually wait minimum of 24 hours before unmolding, and then maybe even 1-3 days to cut depending on my recipe etc…
