    Dilution issue

Ok thanks for checking, DeeAnna. I will try a bit more water. My paste is pretty fresh and has been covered in Saran Wrap so I don't think it has lost any significant water. But I'll add another 25g to make it 1:1, and then go up to1:1.25 if needed. Have you had this happen before? Could having...

    Dilution issue

Thanks, DeeAnna. I'll have to check the recipe, because I thought it was 1part paste to 0.75 water. I will try upping it to 135g and see what happens.

    Dilution issue

I went to dilute my first batch of LS, as mentioned in a recent thread, and have run into an issue. I used 100g paste and 75g water (way to small an amount, I know now), and used Irishlass' tip about adding sodium lactate. It took awhile to soften the paste but I was eventually able to stick...

    Make Foaming Bath Whip

I was searching through the LS threads and discovered this. Any updates, Lindy?

I did it! Thank you, Irishlass et al!

I have now joined the Yahoo liquid soaping group as well so I can pick their collective brain. This stuff is fascinating!

    Why do you make soap?

Great question! I have many reasons. I first started making soap because it seemed like a neat hobby. But then I made some iffy soap and got busy with life and didn't do it for many years. Then my son was born and I started really looking at the things we put on him and in him, and we started...

I did it! Thank you, Irishlass et al!

I did a little hunting around and found this write up on the properties of single oil liquid soaps. It's a paragraph in the middle. http://www.angelfire.com/mi/Soapmaking101/liquidsoap.html

I did it! Thank you, Irishlass et al!

Thank you, Gigi, but that is for bar soap, and I'm not sure if it translates to liquid soap. Does it? Or is the reaction with KOH going to produce different qualities than NAOH?

I did it! Thank you, Irishlass et al!

Unbelievable! The paste was zap free in less than an hour with no stick blender used. And it's so beautiful! The paste looks like a big pot of hardened amber. I love this! Thank you Susie. I did use the 3x and it worked perfectly so I'll keep using that. Now to figure out dilution/scenting/etc...

I did it! Thank you, Irishlass et al!

I finally made liquid soap tonight using IL's CP method and it seems to have worked. I was absolutely gob-smacked when the bubbles started to fly. (Nope, not English, but I love the phrase.) It went through all the stages just as described. So thank you, it was so much simpler than I had...

What does coconut water do for soap?

I haven't used it myself in soap, but it is quite sweet, so it should act like a sugar additive and up the bubbles. But watch for overheating.

    d-limonene usage

Susie, I did the exact same thing in the advanced search and got zero hits. Perhaps it isn't as functional on mobile. I wouldn't ask if I hadn't ready looked. Thank you, but it doesn't address adding d-limonene to CP soap for a stain bar. I had already looked up d-limonene usages on the...

Why is it so drying when it shouldn't be?

Ooh, I'm on my phone so I can't but I wish I could like this ...x1000!

    d-limonene usage

No one? That was unexpected. I guess I will go ahead and try it and see what happens.

    d-limonene usage

I make a laundry stain bar that is 100% coconut oil soap and was thinking of adding d-limonene for extra power. Has anyone done this? What were your results?

    What is happening?!

    Ah, you're right, Obsidian. Sorry.

    What is happening?!

Well, your recipe is set for fractionated. So if you didn't use it, you may want to rerun the recipe through your lye calculator with Coconut 76 instead and see what the difference in your lye amount is.

    What is happening?!

Are you using fractionated coconut oil? Or is your CO solid at room temp?

    natural green colorant

I've had good success with powdered carrot leaves. I've just added them directly. They give me a nice medium green but speckly. I haven't tried an infusion yet but I plan to. It's been months and they are still holding their colour. Of course I don't store them in direct sunlight or anything.
