Could your superfat be off? What was your KOH purity?

I'm in Canada, but I render my own from a local farmer. $5 for about 5kg of mixed pig fat. Although if I can get straight leaf lard or fat, I hoard it for pastry. Yum!

28% lye concentration? Or as a % of oil weight? Oh, sorry, I just opened the photo. I usually use 32% lye concentration without issue. Are you replacing all the water with goatsmilk? I usually use 50% GM in mine. Also, high olive will give you a yellow-green tint at the start but it cures out...

I use coconut fibre in my mechanics soap. Very scrubby.

Where is the water coming from-the air, or is there water in your recipe? Sorry, that may seem like an odd question, but I've seen some things...

The spots look like air bubbles to me. I don't shrink wrap, so I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't think you would do it until the bars are fully cured. I would think that the plastic would prevent evaporation.

Where are you in BC? There are quite a few good suppliers in BC, although I don't do MP so I can't speak to that. I'm in Alberta, by the way.

Are you in Canada? Because the price you paid on Amazon is at least 4 times what you should be paying. I can let you know some better sources if you'd like.

I personally find cocoa butter in soap too cleansing. Even at 10% it left my skin tight-feeling. So I replaced it with avocado oil and it's much nicer.

Are you tasting the powdery ash that forms on the top?

It would be a distinctive shock feeling. I suspect you are reacting to an additive. What was in the recipe?

On the homemade solar ovens-aren't most of them made with aluminum foil? If that is the design you are looking at, I would stay away from the aluminum. Lye and aluminum react badly. And there is still active lye when you put your mold in, so if it volcanoed, I'm not sure but I would suspect it...

I use avocado oil up to 15% and have not had even a little DOS in 2-year old soap. I love what it brings to the recipe, lovely mildness.
