    Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate in CP?

There were some threads on the Dish about adding detergent surfactants to CP awhile back. If you're a member there, you'd probably turn up some info on this. Nice lather!

Please help me!! My Soap is not the same what i saw in youtube!

OK, given that olive oil is out, I would try the following: 30% coconut oil 30% beef tallow OR lard OR palm oil 8% castor 32% other liquid oil - whatever is cost effective for you. If you can get rice bran, that would be ideal. If not, high oleic safflower, sunflower, canola, soy, whatever...

Please help me!! My Soap is not the same what i saw in youtube!

What was already said. Come up with a blend of soaping oils: 20% coconut, 30% palm (or lard), and 50% olive oil is a good place to start. Input the oils at www.soapcalc.net It will give you your lye and water amounts. Rough guideline - lye is typically around 1/7 of the weight of my soaping...

    Intentionally 'skin drying' soap.

Salt bars would be a good bet. I have friends with body acne and I give them 100% coconut oil soap at 20% superfat and 50% salt (with respect to oil weight). Works great. My husband is a bit oily but not prone to major breakouts. He uses salt bars every second or third day to keep the oil at...

    Single oil soaps

Thanks for sharing your results! I don't see a big difference between PKO and CO, although the PKO flakes I used do trace faster.

A small rant with a question attached. :)

You know, suggesting that CP soapers are a bunch of elitists who are ignorant about their product and afflicted by low self esteem is precisely the kind of gratuitous personal attack the OP was arguing against. Just sayin'

    Kitchen cabinet soap ideas?

Stearic can make your soap seize if you use too much. Best used for hot process, IMO.

Oil's /you/ think are 'must have'

olive, coconut, palm, castor and whatever butter I happen to have on hand. I like kokum and cocoa best. Not a fan of shea. I LOVE virgin avocado oil when I want to treat myself (and feel like having green soap on hand).

    Poll: Colorants

I get a bit frustrated with botanical colorants because of the color changes that happen during saponification or during cure. I use mostly clays, oxides, and micas. The botanicals I do use are calendula, madder root, comfrey, nettle, annatto and cocoa powder, sometimes alkanet.

A small rant with a question attached. :)

I would use "hand-crafted" or "artisan" soaps. This reflects your artistry and creativity but also enables you to sidestep the critics who believe that handmade only applies to CP or HP.

Alovera in soap making, Has anyone tried?

I have used it but didn't notice much of a difference in my finished soap. But others have had different experiences. Try it and see! Cute baby in your photo!

    Kitchen cabinet soap ideas?

Coconut and shea have a fair amount of stearic so they can substitute (sort of) for palm. Rice bran oil or olive oil -60%. They are very similar in soap so you could use one or the other or both. Coconut oil - 20% Shea butter - 10% Cocoa butter - 10%

My new olive oil, Goat milk and Citrus EO soaps

The mold is adorable - where did you get it? The soap looks very natural and wholesome.

    Insurance who do you use?

If you're just starting out, I recommend RLI but they have a 5K annual sales cap. If you exceed that, HSMG or the Indie Beauty Network.

Got some new EOs but don't know how much to use

Nice husband! I also use about .5 ounce of EO per pound of soaping oils, or about 3% of my soaping oils' weight. Citrus oils do NOT make your soap seize as asserted earlier in this thread. But they do fade. I use them at about 4-5% I would start with a ratio of 3 orange to 1 patch. The...

    apple blossom tea/oil?

I've used both dandelion-infused oil and tea and unfortunately the pretty color turns to an indistinct tan over time. Haven't tried apple blossoms.
