You did an absolutely fantastic job!

    Soap, soap, soap

I think they are lovely. I like the rustic look you've achieved with the nice design touches like the stamp.

    Hello! Coming out of lurkdom

Welcome! Feel free to speak up, we don't bite! :)

    Very naughty fragrance!

You might try gently reheating it in a low oven or in a crockpot and then try to stick blend it back into smoothness and back into the mold.

    Favorite Christmas scents by supplier

I also use the AJP and Cranberry Apple Marmalade from Peak. Chai FOs are also nice around the holidays. Oregon Trails has a nice one.

    Favourite Superfat?

5% dries out my skin (but my recipe is about 35% coconut because that's what DH likes). I use 8% most of the time and can make a soap that works for both of us.

    Pricing for Lip Balms

The average price that I have seen at shows is 2.50-3 dollars.

A moment of pride, first colour soap

Beautiful, I love it! Alkanet can fade when exposed to light over time, so be sure to store it in a dark place.

    Bacon fat soap recipes

Dixiedragon described the rendering process very well. Having rendered animal fat before, unless you are curious about the process, I don't find it cost effective if I take the time and mess into account. Also, the fat will smell a bit meaty, even in the finished soap. You can add some baking...

    trying to unmold but..

Did your soap gel? If it did not, it can remain soft to the touch for up to a week or more, depending on your recipe.

    Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh

Beautiful! I think it will be even more striking after the discoloration takes place.

    Wrapping Circular Soap

I was also going to suggest basket style coffee filters. You can use a round sticker label to list your ingredients and to hold the edges in place.

    Bulk citric acid

I have bought from WSP in the past. With weighty items like this the "free" shipping often makes a difference.

Woman critically ill from ingesting lye

In Utah, a woman drank sweet tea contaminated with lye from a drink dispenser. Allegedly, the restaurant worker thought he or she was adding sugar. http://news.msn.com/...mical-laced-tea How could one not notice the chemical reaction, the smell, color, and temperature changes, and the fumes...

Advice on avoiding DOS in baby soap?

I read a lengthy thread somewhere which experimented with different types of storage/packaging and DOS. Cotton muslin bags were the best, followed by (I think) naked bars in large cardboard boxes. Google and you will probably come across it.

Can you make money selling soap?

I would add that the handcrafted CP soap market is incredibly saturated by now. In addition to hard work, research, a lot of up-front investment, and a sound business plan, you should also investigate local competition (if you were to sell at a farmer's market or craft market, how many...

Advice on avoiding DOS in baby soap?

Could your olive oil possibly be adulterated? Your recipe looks pretty stable to me. I get my olive oil at Costco, their store Kirkland brand. It is good quality and pretty economical.

Hello from a Colorado goat raiser!

You will have so much fun. Lucky you, your own fresh supply!

    Catty Competitors

Just to be clear, she is leaving snarky comments on your site? If so, I would delete and move on. If it's on her site, you could do one of two things. I like EG's suggestion - remark that your products seem quite different using sweet and diplomatic language. Perhaps even offer to give her a...

    Deciding on superfat level

To be honest, once I found a recipe that worked for me, I haven't played much with oil percentages. So don't feel as though you must tinker endlessly. Regarding superfat, you can make small 1 lb batches and see what your skin likes best. For me, I had to balance the needs of my husband (more...
