    Names

I visited NOLA last February for Mardi Gras with my best friend. It was a bucket list thing for us. She passed away one year to the day exactly after I had come to visit. NOLA hasn't really left mt blood ~ I've put in heavy with the fiance to move there...and we made our last memories that will...

Looking for a good red colorant.

The only red I have found to get a good red is BB's Labcolors. But they bleed bad. I did a half and half once, dark red on top, dark brown on bottom, separated by a mica line. Didn't have any bleeding issues but I did when I used it in a swirl soap. I'm looking at trying some of Mad Oil's reds...

    What's everyone watching on TV?

Black Sails, Salem, Vikings, (or named something really similar, I can't remember the name of that one but it's about vikings) Penny Dreadful, The Strain, Lost, True Blood, American Horror Story (I have pictures of me, my daughter Nicole, and my niece standing in front of the house they used to...

    Question about shrink-wrapping soap

I use shrink wrap bands and a label on the inside of the shrink wrap. I was using sticker paper but the labels were coming off at the corners and looking messy. Leave your soap naked until the last possible minute if at all possible. At least wait the 4-6 weeks. The soap continues to cure and...

    Where's that BB sale?

I just must not have a good nose yet. My Black Tea smelled pretty much like the pekoe-cut black tea I get at Walmart. I had only a sample so I just soaped a tiny 1 lb block so I could see if I'd want it again. I can agree that it would be a good blending FO. I like it by itself (or anything)...

What soapy mistake have you made today?

I managed to make a rice mess last night. Still going back through my notes to see what I might have done wrong just in case I can't blame it on the FO. My colors also turned out whacked. There is oil on top of the batch and it's still super soft although it hasn't been 24 hours yet. I was...

    Where's that BB sale?

Black tea is pretty awesome, but I should put an unpicky nose disclaimer in my profile.

    Brambleberry FO sale

I love every single one I have ever gotten, but my daughter made me immediately soap Island Escape the very second she smelled the sample bottle, and she will NOT live without it. Mine is Lemongrass and Sage, so I always have to keep two big bottles of those around. I also did a peppermint...

So what are YOUR soapy secrets?

Cats I swear. Lately I grate my soap scraps into my home made laundry detergent because I am too lazy to HP re batch them anymore. (it works pretty dern well IMO). I have gotten both my twin girls totally addicted to soap. One is more crafty than the other so one just likes to add colors and...

So what are YOUR soapy secrets?

Since the kids have moved out I have made a soaping room, a sewing and needlework room, and a the-rest-of-my-crafts room. Three craft rooms. Glee!!!! So, I am a supplies hoarder, clearly. But the soaping room is the biggest and it also spills into two kitchen shelves and two cabinets full of...

April SMF Soap Challenge, Hanger Swirl Petra Style

I have missed reading the challenges! I have lots of forum reading to catch up on. This looks like a blast! Although watching from the sidelines again this month probably.

    Yuck! Smells like play dough!

I like the smell of Play dough. I like the smell of pretty much anything though. Except Nature's Garden Peach. Blech.

What are your best practices for preventing soda ash?

Well then. Frodo wanted me to post. He head butted the new phone and I'm having trouble locating the edit button. Spray with the 91% Isopropyl alcohol , regular Walmart kind. Cover with plastic cellophane. I poof up the cover if I have raised decorated tops. I've found my ash continues to...

What are your best practices for preventing soda ash?

This is what I do when I don't forget to do it, although it sounds like experimentation is necessary. Climate and recipe could affect every batch. My best prevention practices, and I live in a humid climate: Spray with

    My new air-cooled curing rack

Have you had enough time lapse to see what this is going to do, if anything, to the electric bill? (Or anybody.) Looks interesting. My curing room is probably really only lacking some good ventilation. That is, until we sell the house and I have to start the search and set up all over again...

    Daily Gratitude

I am thankful for this little bugger. Our third grandchild was given to us the Monday before Thanksgiving. 1. First, I am grateful little Landon was a healthy 6lb 14 oz, 21.5 inches long bouncing baby boy. In this picture, just a day old and smiling. (gas, anyone?) 2. I am grateful that...

    Inexpensive source for jojoba oil?

Pricing comparisons are a mess. I'm currently trying to finagle an Access database to replace all my OneNote, Word, & Excel notes, along with about two handwritten notebooks almost full. I usually learn the hard way....

100% coconut oil liquid soap opaque

My daughter's exboyfriend now has dreadlocks. I should try this for him. (The new boyfriend might get mad at us all if I do. LOL). He would truly appreciate it, though. He's a sweet little thing and even though he's moved two hours away, when he comes home to see his family he always stops in...
