Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

I noticed people posting about packaging. Here is an svg file for a soap box with viewing window. It is sized for a ~ 3.5" x 4.5" x 1.25" bar of soap. It can be adjusted to other sizes if needed, although it is currently all one piece, with no "score" lines, so you have to fold it yourself...

Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

Yes, it is a soap. I love making them and giving them to people for birthdays. That one went to my grand daughter for her 15th last summer. The box was for a dress I made for her (that was her request for a birthday present - I was so pleased!!). It was from one of the Dreaming Tree designs...

Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

I just read through this entire thread - whew!! I have had Cricut machines since 2010, when I got my first Cricut Expression as an early Christmas gift from my husband - we went to WalMart the day after Thanksgiving. I have a Cricut Air now, started w an Expression - I have over 100 cartridges...

Bubbles/White spots ALL over soap surfaces

Thank you @FFLinOhio for that answer! It is most likely what happened, as we have had temps in the 80s - 90s (up until 3 days ago!!). I knew I should have wrapped those soaps, just got busy with other soaps (you should see my dining room table, hah!) for Christmas. Now I know better. Thank...

Bubbles/White spots ALL over soap surfaces

These "spots" appeared a few days after the soap was unmolded. It is a clear MP w BB fragrance and colors - nothing fancy. I am able to wash off w water and let dry. Just wondering what may have caused it?

    Doncha hate when that happens?

    New batch!

Good to know. Since I do not make a LOT of soap at once (3 - 5 lb molds for cold process, as well as 2 - 3 lbs of melt and pour in "fancy" molds, mainly for gifts), I am reluctant to risk expensive supplies on untested experiments like the ones mentioned. IF a number of seasoned soapers...

    New batch!

Wait, wait - "adding the lye solution, made overnight, straight from the fridge" - why do all my cold process "recipes" advise "mix oils and lye H2O when 110 - 130 degrees F and ideally within 10 degrees of each other"? AND, why do some recipes tell you to add fragrances to batches after the...

    Good morning!

Thank you. It took me a long time to recognize the "batter" did not have to be thick to be blended. Your explanation of the emulsion phase is also helpful. Even though I follow recipes, it helps to hear tips like that, especially when examples or explanations of "thin trace" vary depending...

    Good morning!

Thank you both. That gives me the information I need. I had thought to replace it with olive oil (since I read it is made from olives). The soap recipe (which I have not tried) calls for: 13.8 oz. Coconut Oil (25%) 2.8 oz. Jojoba Oil (5.1%) 5.5 oz. Squalane Oil (10%)...

    Good morning!

Thank you for welcoming me to the forum. I am looking for a substitution for squalane oil for a soap "recipe". I have noodled around with amateur soapmaking for family and friends since 2017, with the occasional sales in boutique coffee shops. I am getting tired of buying so many different...
