    Pre-mixing colorants ?

Old post but I wanted to say thanks for this! I’ve had nothing but bad luck mixing colors and then I learned that I should premix with a light oil ahead of time. Then I was curious on how to factor that into my calc.... then I just learned from this post that I don’t have to! lol Thanks @IrishLass

    Alkeehole!

The beer & lye mixture was really dark and I thought that would carry over, but sadly it didn’t. The bottom half is just it’s natural colors. The top is mixed with a little bit of titanium dioxide. I still need to work on my color mixing, as some tiny bits of TD are still present.

    Alkeehole!

I used a couple bottles of Guinness Extra Stout. Poured it into a jug and shook the crap out of it every time I walked past it. After 3 days it still seemed to foam up but I decided to proceed with it. I froze it then measured use in place of water. I did a large batch so I ended up adding a...

What’s a dancing funnel? I rather like how your batch looks. It reminds me of a childhood candy my grandmother always had a stash of. If you had cut them up into small squares and wrapped them up in plastic, I’d probably eat a few! lol

It’s OO, CO, castor oil and shea butter. Oh and it has a fruity FO that I swear makes it smell like Hawaiian Punch (a popular drink in the US). After reading that a batch can be poured after emulsion, and not necessarily trace, I decided to try it out. Everything was great until I realized I...

    Solid Dish Detergent

I use a cheese grater. The smallest. Then blast it with borax and washing soda in a blender and or food processor (I have both just for workshop projects).

As some of you know, I’m fairly new to SMF and soaping in general. I learn fast and improvise even faster, but that doesn’t mean I’m a master at it, especially since I’m sure I haven’t even begun to pay my dues to the soap gods/goddesses. Up until now I’ve been embarrassed to post a lot of my...

    Solid Dish Detergent

I make powder laundry soap. Nothing fancy and mostly with scrap pieces of soap that I don’t use or give away.

    Solid Dish Detergent

Interesting! Now I want to try it. I already have washing soda for making homemade laundry soap. Now go get the other ingredients....

    Soap Is Not Moisturizing?

Was researching beer soap recipes and then stumbled upon this: lol The debate is never ending! But really, I’m over it. Moisturizing or not, I love making soap and don’t even really care if it’s moisturizing or not. In fact, I get severely grossed out at greasy, slimy or wet products on my...

    Soap Is Not Moisturizing?

THAT is exactly why I posted this thread topic. Almost all the physical books I’ve read on soaping mention “moisturizing” soaps. . . But, as seen here, there is no definitive proof of it being moisturizing, just lots of opinions and speculation based on other factors.

Have Faith, New Soapers. There are Angels out there. I’ve seen one!

I’ve been thinking a lot about her act of kindness and how, given her circumstances, maybe she feels I was helping her more than she helped me. Promised myself to put her stuff to good use, in honor of her. I just recently went to the Winchester House. It’s an interesting tour but definitely...
