Using Oleic and Myristic acids straight up?

Definitely curious on that one. She stopped soaping for quite some time and the bars she gave me are probably a year old or more, but they seem perfectly fine. No DOS or any indicators that it’s going bad. Quite frankly, I prefer using her soap to any I’ve tried or made! lol But being the kind...

Using Oleic and Myristic acids straight up?

Hey All! Remember my other post on being gifted a ton of soap stuff from an awesome woman who stopped soaping? Well there is a bottle of Oleic acid (looks and feels like oil) and a bag of Myristic acid (powder form) among the stuff she gave me. In addition, she also gave me a copy of her...

How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

My gf has been testing all my soaps and while she loves them all, her only comment was that there was a “squeaky feeling” just after rinsing. She said it went away like 5 mins later or less but she didn’t prefer it. Thanks to this thread I have a few things to try to remove that squeak! Thanks OP!

    Soap Is Not Moisturizing?

I wish that was the case, but after being in that group for a while now, seeing all the comments on various posts, I highly doubt that’s the reason they did it. Without being too blunt, I just don’t think most of them have the capacity to think that way. I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say...

Remember all that free soaping supplies I was given? (Update)

If anyone remembers, a few weeks back I was gifted a ton of soaping supplies by a super awesome woman who was quitting her soaping business to follow her passion. She refused to accept money for her supplies so I convinced her to let me make her a pen, my other hobby. She accepted and gave me a...

Finally getting the hang of colors and swirls!

Thank you, everyone! Sounds silly but I finally feel like an actual soaper after this batch. My recipes are coming together slowly and the end product is finally starting to come out exactly as I intend. There are still obstacles, but y’all have helped me overcome so much, whether you know it or...

Finally getting the hang of colors and swirls!

Up until now, I’ve had mostly bad luck with colors and soap. This past weekend I decided to try a simple swirl for an oatmeal lavender soap I was working on. My intention was to keep the batch mostly it’s own natural color, but to add a few purple swirls in and around the center. As far as I’m...

    Share your “Perfectly Imperfect” soap!

I used an earl grey/apple scent. And yeah, I will try again but I will have to keep it simple. The main goal was to get the technique and I lost track of that goal. Next time I’ll get it done right!

So.... about this dancing funnel technique... lol I got too excited about trying to many things, and ended up trying to do it all in one recipe. The process was all bad but the outcome is what I’d call perfectly imperfect! [emoji6] First, I decided to do a large batch. Then, I decided to add...

    Solid Dish Detergent

My personal mentality is that there’s always a market for everything, you just need to market the product the right way or educate the market the right way. Sometimes the product needs a little help, so you pick the qualities that best suit the market and you boast the heck out of it. Never lie...

First ever soaps from a total novice!

They look great, good job! Now I’ll tell you what was told to me when I first posted here and didn’t know any better: Don’t let the soaps stay on that metal tray too long. Put paper or cloth or something plastic underneath it. Apparently anything other than stainless steel will cause DOS...

    Hello from Alaska!

Wow, calm down dude. I didn’t mean to offend you in any way. Consider yourself lucky because most of Alaska is not as active as where you are. That’s all I’ll say. Peace!

Ok, that makes more sense now. The wording above was a little confusing. Thanks for the info! Milk soaps is gonna be my next project to tackle.

    Hello from Alaska!

Welcome Chris! My heart is in AK. I’m born and raised in Hawaii, live in California, and work the salmon season in AK every summer for the past 5 years now. I get what you mean about the hobbies, especially being in AK. You kinda have to do a little bit of everything since stores are limited and...

    Alkeehole!

I‘m curious on how that works. You put frozen beer into the mixture, after reaching trace? I really wanna do a beer soap that keeps a good portion of the beer fragrance as possible, without adding extra fragrances. It’d be nice to not scorch the beer with lye as well. I’m gonna try a light beer...

I think I assisted in hijacking my own post, but I’m damn happy it happened! Dancing funnel technique is going to be my next thing to try! I freaking love the way it looks!
