    planning on shrinkage??

    thanks for the info. Vermont soaps, on their web site mentioned that their fresh cut bar weighed 4.2 oz and the cured 3.2 oz from water evap. This is where I was going with the weight. I was planning on around 4.5 x 1 x 2.75 to get about a 4.5 oz cured bar if my math is close

    planning on shrinkage??

    I have a friend who makes soaps and had given some to another friend of mine. When I asked him about the size, the soap maker told me that they have shrunk over the past year and that was something to live with. Because of this observation on shrinkage, is it better esthetics , to plan for an...

    using a heating bath

    I've noticed in some videos that when doing multi colors to get swirls and other blending effect, the artist has to reheat many times to get the various m&P colors to work well together. Do any M&P soaper use a hot water bath tray to keep the different parts of the batch at the best working temp?

    setting up a work area

    I have several places that could work as a soap make and pour area, but since I have not poured a cp batch, I'm wondering about ventilation. How strong do the fumes from the lye reaction get. From the videos I've seen, it does not seem to be a problem but I don't know how much , if any ...

    fragerance cp vs mp strength

    I have read that M&P soaps need a lower % in batch than CP soap. This got me to wondering if the heat generated during SAP causes the FO's or EO's to either loose their scent or evaporate during curing. Any thoughts??

    activated charcoal vs activated carbon

    Is there a significant difference except price one over the other. There might be a particle size difference but a little coffee grinder should do it if that's an issue.

    question on super fat

    I have come to understand the reason for a common 5% superfat in soap making . My 2 q1uestions(based on a video from soaps 101 channel) is about when to or( not to) add the superfat after trace and what oil to add. If I calculate a batch for 5% oil reserved until trace, would it make any...

    lye /oil sap formula

    Hey folks, another newbie getting into the soap vat. I am trying to get a feeling of how the whole cp comes together with the lye ratios etc. I printed out a oil SAP value chart and used Brambleberry's lye calc to confirm a recipe I had found on the net, it was spot on. My question is about a...
