    Scents you are looking for

Well Google told me ng sells egyptian musk fo. The reviews, however, state it is really light oob and one said faded completely in cp. What about black amber musk by wsp? Soaps very well and doesnt D. I know it isn't egyptian musk (i havent a clue as to the difference), but it is worth a look...

Avocado vs sweet almond oil in lotion

Thx arimara! Soapmaker145, thx for the heads up. My girly fam are obsessed, literally to a terrifying degree, with ng the perfect man fo. Yup, it D pink in cp soap, so I can only imagine attempting replacing avo in place of sweet almond oil. I will run a test batch of cp soap with a D fo that...

Avocado vs sweet almond oil in lotion

Well thank you both! First off, my family ladies use this as a body lotion as do I. Second off I also use my lotion as a light facial lotion before I apply make up to prevent caking of makeup. Arimara, I did what you suggested and yes, avocado was a little tackier and stuck to my skin more...

Avocado vs sweet almond oil in lotion

I make a very standard lotion with shea butter, distilled water, stearic acid, ewax, ipm, and sweet almond oil (with an fo), oh and optiphen. (Pretty sure I didn't leave anything out). My sister, sister in law, and mother really love this lotion. I constantly see rave reviews for avocado...

What advice would you give to your beginning soaping self?

The longer you soap, the more complacent you can be (at times). Don't be! A tiny droplet of cooled lye water on the tip of a finger hurts! I never did that, once, I swear...

All natural melt and pour base

The truth is that no soaps produced today are all natural. You can tell the people you are trying to sell your MP soaps to that. Sodium and potassium hydroxide occurring in soaps are not naturally produced these days. Unless you're leaching wood ash and water together to make a mushy soft bar of...

    Lard and Tallow

Yeah. I didn't realize my butcher had done the same thing back in the day when I rendered my own. I think I just used the tallow value. I like a lower sf, and if I remember correctly tallow has a higher sap value, but not by much. By my calculations, it didn't lower my sf level by much, even...

    Soap's bubbling on the underside?

Did you use a silicone mold? Cpop it? Heating pad under it? Can you give any details about the process you used from start to finish? It would help us better identify the cause.

    Fragrance Supplier

AHRE is aroma haven/rustic escentuals. The acronym for the full company name. I *think* RE bought AH and kept some signature fos. Could be wrong...

    Does patchouli stick?

Well, 2 blends I really loved. The first was Lavender 3 grams, rosemary 1 gram, litsea 2 grams, patchouli 8 grams, cedarwood 2 grams. This smelled so highly of litsea at first, I really didn't like the lemon overwhelming it. After months of mellowing, it was lovely. Maybe will try again without...

    Does patchouli stick?

I did an eo blend once, and patch remained the predominate scent...well over 9 months later! I think it sticks tremendously well.

    Confusion regarding lye concentration

When I am doing challenges, I will occasionally use essential oils to make sure my soaps do not accelerate with my 40% lye. The dna swirl I did was made with eos, in fact. I have used blends with lavender 42/40 (whatever it is called), fine french Lavender, cedarwood, juniper berry...

    Confusion regarding lye concentration

Newbie and I are big advocates of low water, under certain conditions. We have had soap stay at emulsion for literally over an hour using this method. Recipe. Recipe is important. Known accelerants like pomace olive oil, high castor, and high coconut oil will speed trace time. Adding...

Unknown percentage of oils. Need help with water/lye

It is a common misconception hp doesnt need as long a cure. All cp and hp soaps need a good cure. Always:) I believe hp can take longer, if fact, due to larger amounts of water used. I may be wrong, but I think I have seen that here before.

1780c - 1800c pewter mold help? Candle corrosion

Not sure, but wasn't pewter manufactured before the early 1900s made with lead? Wouldn't that be a poor choice for potential lead poisoning? Not sure how much would leak into the wax and transfer to hands while handling, but I wanted to ask because it seems potentially dangerous.

    Basic Chemical Additives

Cirtic acid, sodium citrate, and edta. Cirtic acid you must adjust your lye amount, because some gets used by the CA. I have never messed with this because of this reason. Edta, I haven't used. I think, may be wrong, but think it needs a particular calculation which was more than I wanted...
