vetiver essential oil suggestions for supplier

Don't wait for camden grey to have a sale! Their economy shipping is pricey (think it has been appx 13 bucks), but their express shipping is outrageous at, like, 19 or 20 bucks, somewhere around there. If you use a coupon code from a sale, you are forced to use their higher shipping. For people...

    Total recipe volume

Do you KNOW your total volume already and are wanting to determine oils amount to add to everything else so it fills the mold, or are you wanting to find out your mold's total volume to then calculate your ingredients? If you know your mold holds 60 oz, go to soapcalc and plug in your water...

    My DOS Challenge Experiments

I use SC at 2% ppo. It helps with scum tremendously and dos. I add it to water alongside sugar and silk. Stir to dissolve, add lye after. I still get dos (high lard) when i leave a soap in a non breathing dish (bowl) for multiple months and multiple uses. I think this is more caused by remaining...

Soap For People With a Corn Allergy

Being next to a corn crop shouldn't contaminate. Look for labels with "may contain" this or that. You'll see that on foods that may have come into contact with known allergens.

vetiver essential oil suggestions for supplier

I bought dark vetiver from camden grey. Lovely dark green scent. Their eos are good quality, and the minimum order is very reasonable @ 25 bucks or close to it.

    Breastmilk soap

Never done it. I will say soap is a wash off product. If you have little babies around, I've read expressed bm is good on their skin (in the raw so to speak) though i never did that. If you can't donate it, will never use it, then why not use it in soap? Only thing is lye will eat any potential...

    Just eyeball it

Ooooo, never tried that (erm, never will). I DO eyeball micas i dry dump into batter, but...yup, that's about it! Creepy for me. I take soap making as chemistry when it comes to lye, water and oils. Period, end of paragraph.

    Organic vs. non-organic oils?

Youre right! :) I was going to state mango especially, I noticed, makes for a real hard bar, but I left it out. I should have also mentioned those wanting an animal and palm free soap tend to use butters to harden a bar (if not making castille etc).

    Organic vs. non-organic oils?

Generally speaking, you have 4 types of fats. Cleansing ones which strip natural oils. These are CO, pko flakes, babassu oil. These are used at a lower % to cleanse, bubble, but not completely strip your hide. Then you have your hard fats to make a creamy hard bar. Palm, tallow, and lard are...

    Temperature pointer

For cp soaps? I use the hand technique. Using cheap stainless steel bowls from Walmart, I heat my oils directly on a low stove setting, and I mix lye into water (in the smaller bowl) in my sink. Once oils melt, I remove from heat. Once the lye bowl cools to the touch on the outside, and the oils...

    SMF April 2017 Challenge-Stripes

It is from off Instagram, if I recall... Here https://www.instagram.com/p/BK8mqfqj1NV/ I think it is a woodgrain technique.

Soap made with 6% superfat & its still drying facial skin

Some people complain they just do not tolerate co. They have had better results with pko flakes or babassu. Maybe you can try it out after experimenting with no co.

My Perfect Recipe Has No Working Time

Hey, I read you saying your recipe is probably loaded with stearic. For a comparison, my recipes show my stearic at a 9 to 10 typically. I *think* it may have been as high as 11 when i was rendering tallow as opposed to lard (poor family couldn't stomach the smell, thus I switched). My...

My Perfect Recipe Has No Working Time

I just did the math, youre using a 5lb mold, is that right? Wouldnt think salt @ 3 tsp would cause so much havoc... Someone on teach soap forum mentions SL "supposedly speeds up trace". Soap queen mentions it can thicken lotions. I am going out on a limb and say that maybe the combo is...

My Perfect Recipe Has No Working Time

Dunno on SL, but salt bars thicken like sludge fast. So I would *assume* it is adding thickening, maybe not trace persay. I am no chemist lol, but that's my guess.

My Perfect Recipe Has No Working Time

Thx saltedfig! I was thinking about that when I saw his dilemma. 40% is typed into "lye concentration" on soapcalc. That's a 1.5 water to 1 lye ratio. Try it with a REAL behaving fo. I suggest neroli shea blossom by bb, black amber musk from wsp, or ah...what's newbies go to fo for blends... it...

    Dish soap (hard)

I encourage you to read the first, 5 or 10, pages in the beginners forum. A simple way to search this site, easier for me at least, is go to google.com Type in the search engine your question, then type the word site, a colon, and then website you want to search on. for example Coconut oil...
