    Tech savvy, I NEED HELP!

I had no memory on my phone to record videos for October's challenge. I am on an android with Google photos installed. All of my videos were in Google photos. So I deleted my photos on my device only, and they deleted out of Google photos. They are not in the trash bin on google photos app. WTH...

I botched on the September Cahllenge

Thanks dibbles! The back is no biggie. I've slipped discs at least once a yr for almost 20 yrs. I'm used to it. It was having to get back on prednisone for 3 months that irked me. I have rheumatoid arthritis that, praise high heaven, is in remission. Then I got temporal arteritis back late May...

I botched on the September Cahllenge

Hey! I'm doing October. I haven't made soap in months, unfortunately. I got sick late May and it took 3 months to recover. Then I slipped a disc last Friday and it is still bothering me. Truth be known, I have racked my brain on ideas and am having trouble choosing one. Dibbles threw some ideas...

    Your first soap

My first batch, I had a cast on from wrist surgery lol. It was a fo tester into 5 small rounds in a silicone mold. I had a tiny batch for this. It was co 68g (30%), and olive oil 159g (70%). Bb fos were omh, almond, sandalwood cybilla, omh blended with something I labeled SH (uh, totally at a...

Advice needed from experienced FO users in CP please!

Hi there! I will try to help you :) 1. I do not have your exact recipe so I cannot run it through a lye calculator. That said, it is best to use lye concentration as opposed to water as a percent of oils on the soap calc calculator. I would need to know your lye concentration per your recipe to...

What do I do with these?

Sulfur powder? Chigger killer  Down here in the south (US) chiggers are out of control. Ask my 10 plus bites (that itch for a solid 2 plus weeks, uncontrollably, itching in your sleep etc), which are tame compared to previous encounters! I have sulfur pellets now which do not...

    SMF June Challenge Peacock Swirls

The top was made by texture with a spoon after thickened (thick trace). The pearls are literally sugar pearls in the baking section of walmart. They're made for cooking cakes, pastries, happy birthday etc...and I rolled them in glitter for soap. Glitter was purchased from Nurtures soap if I...

    Emu Oil $34/lb.

I just wanted to say it is really nice of you to privately share with everyone. Sellers are usually put off and not interested in sharing recipes, techniques, etc. I thought it was really cool:)

Are essential oils used at the same rate as fragrance oils?

Cheaper source, yes! There are companies online we use to purchase fos and eos for soap. I personally use camden grey for eos. I use .7 to 1 oz per pound oils of fragrance oils. I use typically .5 oz ppo of nonirritant eos (essential oils). So a 500 gram batch of oils would take appx 14 grams...

    Drying/ Sticky feeling in soap

Hi, and welcome to the forum! That said... I see some things that jump out at me. I would like to give some suggetions, if you don't mind. First, 6 pounds is a TON of soap to make while experimenting. I suggest 1 to 2 pound practices until you find what you like. THEN share some with friends...

vetiver essential oil suggestions for supplier

Hey susie! Sorry it took so long to get back to you! I have a soap that's almost a yr old, if I remember correctly, I could send. Actually I have 2, one I made before the final one (for the fragrance blend swap last year). It smelled different 8 months ago, of course, but the eos still havent...

    SF

Welp, i just posted this on another thread, yet it seems relevant here....quote With 25% co, I'd be reluctant for a lower sf than 5%. I use 18 to 20% co BUT use 2% sf. #1 lye typically isnt 100% pure. #2 i go based on the idea it is my oils and fats that make a good bar of soap. To up...

    Dos

Looks a tad like it, but, we need a full recipe with all additives and info on cure rack, cure place, temps where cured (appx), and cure time up until this appeared to fully analyze the issue.

Some musings that have led to questions

With 25% co, I'd be reluctant for a lower sf than 5%. I use 18 to 20% co BUT use 2% sf. #1 lye typically isnt 100% pure. #2 i go based on the idea it is my oils and fats that make a good bar of soap. To up one stripping oil, like pko or co, then up sf to counter act the stripping creates a...

vetiver essential oil suggestions for supplier

Well the only prob I had with vetiver eo (in a blend mind you) was the dark vetiver is so viscous and downright thick, once I used the pipette to measure to the nearest gram, it didn't register well on my scale. Most eos are ok @ .5 on fragrance ratio on soapcalc. Vetiver dark is heavy, like...

Change a fragrance oil to cured scent?

I know some lotions have sodium hydroxide. One of my little ones wated to buy me a lotion and chose Jergens Shea Butter. It has sodium hydroxide listed right before the fragrance. The one acid i see to balance it off is tocopheryl acetate. That's a blend of synthetic vitamin E, i think...

Thx KristaY and especially newbie for doing 2 in a row! I enjoy hosting, but as time wears on I am hitting mental roadblocks on what to do next. I think that's the biggest challenge of hosting, for me at least!
