    Vegan / Vegetarian Choices

I thought exactly of this as I was reading the op! Here is a good example of communication between trees warning their neighbors of danger, telling other trees to reduce water consumption in drought, etc etc. There was some online news articles recently on this subject as well. Video about...

SMF October 2016 Soap Challenge- Spoon Swirl

Thx for the text, I'm here now :-) TS is fine, correct newbie! Yes, any pour will work this time. Spoon swirls can be so difficult to achieve whatever look you're going for, and I wanted a simple challenge month that could possibly encourage more people (new soapers etc), to try out a...

    My First Recipe

Many here do not recommend shampoo bars at all. Hair needs a lower ph than soap is. Another thing is your cleansing number is very high for sensitive skin, and I would think soap for someone with a skin condition such as psoriasis would need a much lower cleansing number. Hopefully our shampoo...

    rancid/old olive oil on soaps...

^^^ I personally would agree with Carolyn. Also she and I superfat pretty low, I personally use 2% sf regularly. If the seals aren't broken, they do not smell rancid, you could consider a lower sf (lower than your 4% you mentioned) if you are still comcerned.

SMF October 2016 Soap Challenge- Spoon Swirl

This is my first attempt at soap 2 (no video shown). I turned the spoon over 3 times, and it tends to over swirl, especially if laying down mica lines. Other than that, it was made in the exact same way as soap 2.

SMF October 2016 Soap Challenge- Spoon Swirl

The first soaps- There are more delicate swirls seeing as it was done with a small spoon and less pulling of the soap. The second video soaps- This is a more standard way to spoon swirl. After cutting, I wiped each soap face down with a damp cloth to clean up the mica (cutting drags the...

    Citric acid as Chelant

I am not sure if this is the same thing, but I use 2% ppo sodium citrate. Well one soap I accidentally used 5% sc. I saved one soap (it was made April 2015). I picked it up a couple months ago and used it (so it was a little over a yr old). It had a grainy exterior that had a crystalline like...

    Green mica turned brown

You have to double check micas. Some are not cp soap stable. From brambleberry's website on shamrock green mica: Not recommended for cold process soap. This color will morph. Sorry it didn't work out for you!
