Mad Oils vs Bramble Berry Colorant Quality?

Well, I am conservative, old, and a mother of young men. So I don't get my jollies looking at them half naked. Don't much care for half naked anything, frankly. Am not too verbose, either, I save my energy for other things ;) There are all sorts of us out there, something for everyone.

Mad Oils vs Bramble Berry Colorant Quality?

Hmmm - I don't want the website to 'wow' me. I want information, logically laid out, so I can make my purchase and then my own creativity can flow. Nurture's pages work fine for me. I hadn't seen any of these half naked men on the MO pages, maybe because I just don't care for the whole...

    Sharon Johnson HP method?

It would be interesting if one of you doing this method tests the shrinkage of these soaps over time - like over at least six months, preferably a year. See if they shrink, warp, etc.

    Misinformation and Soaping

Mommy bloggers and the Environmental Working Group are the main reasons people are so askeered of preservatives.

Then they changed it, because you didn't used to be able to. Probably because so many have Android phones now, they all have Gmail accounts.

    Misinformation and Soaping

Nitwits abound. I couldn't leave that first Pinterest thing alone.

    What is this red stuff?

That's exactly what that is, essential oils. Let the soap sit and see if it doesn't reabsorb.

New Soap Lye Calculator, Oil and Soap Recipe Database

I heartily agree. I prefer my lye, mainly, to be in grams. Everything else in ounces (as I think in ounces, I can't grok grams intuitively).

Shipping charges on EO/FO's can be ridiculous! Is this unique to my suppliers?

I second the vote for Liberty Naturals, good prices, reasonable shipping . I have found many of the small suppliers willing to use cheaper but slower shipping methods if you contact them directly and ask. As for Bramble Berry and other 'big' suppliers, I have no use for companies that make...

Pokeweed Berries for a Deep Fuscia Red

Really? We used to have whip wars with those berries and it came right off in the bath/laundry.

    Great recipe for tallow/lard!

Fragrance Laboratory is located in OK. Jo is definitely a wonderful, sharing, knowledgeable person! She and Cindy Gooding are doing a great job with that company, the FOs are lovely and the pricing is excellent.

Pokeweed Berries for a Deep Fuscia Red

Seems the lye monster never plays nice with reds. A nice green though....hmmmm :)

I can't read any more. IrishLass's explanation was simple to follow, I'm sticking with that!!

Thank you, IrishLass. Did you see the first part of my post? I edited it and asked "ETA Just so I understand this properly, you're meaning that you'd take (for simplicity's sake) 8 ounces of lye and put it into 16 oz. of water - or a pound of lye into two pounds of water - correct? That's...

ETA Just so I understand this properly, you're meaning that you'd take (for simplicity's sake) 8 ounces of lye and put it into 16 oz. of water - or a pound of lye into two pounds of water - correct? That's the 50% solution? This is the first time anyone has explained masterbatching in a way...
