    Issues with Silicone Molds

I also prefer the silicone molds that need wooden supports if I'm going to use silicone. I find the combination insulates well, getting my soap to gel completely (I prefer gel). I actually have lots of wood molds with no liners, I still like freezer paper - I know, I know, I'm nuts, but I...

    Pineapple Cilantro Coming

But if you can no longer get it why not test another - it might be the same. I was only trying to help. Hers doesn't discolor, either.

    Pineapple Cilantro Coming

Gan Eden also carries it, it does not discolor. I had never smelled it before, got a bar in a swap and OMG I'm in love!

How to make a hole in bell of stick blender

Why not just burp it? Works fine for me.

    Honey

Yes it will. You will end up with a darker soap than you need to have.

    Honey

Please don't add honey to your lye. Why start out with the sugars totally caramelized? Add it at trace, diluted if too thick by some warm water (discount the water).

    Emu Oil $34/lb.

I surely would love a recipe, I have a terrible knee right now and am currently using Australian Dream - I'd love to make it myself. If you are so inclined to share, I know many would appreciate it!

    Deanna, I have a question...

I just can't stand Castile soap. I can't get past the slime and no, it doesn't get any better really with age. Once slimy always slimy as far as I'm concerned!

    Goats milk soap and mold

Agreed. Post a picture so we can confirm it is ash - and set your mind at ease!

    Cure time...

DeeAnna, awesome info. You need to write a book - or someone needs to cull through all your posts in SMF and assemble them into a book for you!

    Ash as a feature

We got about 15" the other night, and tonight we're getting another 6. It snows in New England in February ;) Nothing we can do about it. Gives me more opportunity to make soap!

Figgy Oat Soap from The Essential Herbal

I love making recipes developed by Marci Tsohonis, who writes for The Essential Herbal magazine. The scent used here is something I came up with and am happy to share. I'm including the recipe if you want to try it. I have people who really love this one, the first batch sold quickly...

    Ash as a feature

I had another batch, I can't find a picture of it, Sandalwood Vanilla, where the ash made the tops look like tooled leather. Again, no clue why the happy accident happened. Next batch, same recipe, had no ash. Go figure.

    Ash as a feature

I think I used two tablespoons in a 48 ounce batch. As I said, I also added a touch of raspberry mica. Isn't that stamp cute? A Christmas present from a soapy friend :)

    Ash as a feature

Sometimes ash is a feature. This is First Blush from Tamera Soaping Scents, made with rose clay and a little raspberry mica from Nurture. I did add glitter, but the ash is what makes this soap shine!

    FO's

Carrie is the owner of Nurture Soap Supply. My favorite mica vendor in the soap world. Her fragrances are lovely, too. Quick shipping too!

Mad Oils Stopping Selling Small Sizes

Heavily edited? Gutted is more like it - and it all was pertinent.

How do you organize your stuff?

My living room is totally consumed with soapmaking supplies, as is a room in my cellar. Right now my son is working on that room, he's ripping the old stuff out and going to build me a new room. Then I'm going to Ikea for cabinets - lots of cabinets!! :)
