First batch of M&P soap base!

I molded a few small items last night, had the house closed up all day at work and it got pretty warm inside and we're in FL where average humidity is about 80% and they're looking good so far :D I think I'll set a couple in the bathroom just to see what happens in that environment but so far...

First batch of M&P soap base!

It was a lot simpler than I expected it to be...still tinkering with the formulation though. We'll see how this one fairs as far as sweating goes, etc.

First batch of M&P soap base!

No alcohol in this one. Here in FL we can't buy Everclear (grain alcohol) and I wanted a remeltable base, so I went with a combo of Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, and a sugar solution. After work tonight I'm going to cut some up, remelt and mold it into smaller shapes/bars, then start watching...

First batch of M&P soap base!

So I got up this morning and set about making my first batch of from scratch M&P soap base. It's not "clear", but more of a translucent. Here it is in the loaf mold, and a shot of the excess poured into little tree molds . It lathers pretty good all considering it was my first try :D Oh...

What soapy thing have you done today?

My propylene glycol arrived today so I'm ready to try my hand and making a M&P base :D Thought about doing it tonight, but UGGH, long day at work and I'm just not feeling it. I'll be tinkering first thing in the am though :D

    Good Recipe?

Some basic recipes I use to get a nice, long lasting bar that gives a wonderfully creamy lather are... 50% lard 25 % Olive Oil 17% Coconut 8% Castor If you're not a fan of using lard Palm 45% Olive 30% Coconut 17% Castor 8% both make a nice bar of soap with creamy lather :)

Talk to me about beer soap...

I masterbatch my lye at a 50% solution, so I measure that out then all remaining liquid is the beer :)
