What soapy thing have you done today?

Not really today but I just sliced up my latest bar of soap. It's supposed to be an aurora inspired design but my friend was saying it looks like an atlas. Well, I suppose the world is on fire and this is apt. 🔥 I also made some new batches, messed up the last one with almost 50% more shea...

    Feeling discouraged about fragrance oils

Yes the first item was the SMF FO Review list was the one I was referring to. But I dont think it is being updated, a pity. @Suchisam For Korean brands, I get the majority of them from Candleworks Korea. I think they might have a US distributor, so you can probably explore that. Otherwise their...

    Feeling discouraged about fragrance oils

Good to hear that you had success with your latest batch. That said, my fragrance that mutated was actually a fairly expensive bottle from my usual korean company. Some of them really just dont perform as well in soaps sadly. I remember there used to be a master list of FO reviews but think it's...

    Feeling discouraged about fragrance oils

As mentioned in a coffee soap thread, my latest and only purchase from a new retailer ended up in horrors. That said, I have had varying degrees of success working with FOs from places like nature's garden, aztec as well as korean companies. I have a fairly decent collection from my candlemaking...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Yea I do sometimes, but I was hoping to go with FOs for this as coffee oil is rather pricey. Will see how it goes. Coffee soap has been banished to the bottom of the todo list now. Hahah

What soapy thing have you done today?

Yes it's definitely not as bad as I expected, but a pity about the FO. Will need to go on the hunt for another latte smelling FO soon. 😥

    Coffee Soap

Some updates on my poor mashed potato. Last week's batch came out looking pretty rustic but acceptable in a "well it could have been worst" kinda way. That said, I'm convinced the FO is just not meant for CP. It went crazy again today despite it being diluted and mixed into the oils prior to the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

So last week I made some coffee soap and it seized up badly once I added the fragrance oil, was forced to HP it to try and salvage it. Today I cut it and although it doesnt look pretty, seems alright. Only thing is, the scent was of an odd medicinal/herbal smell. Undeterred, I tried again, this...

    Coffee Soap

Just a quick report back, I brewed some coffee and chilled it overnight before use. There was no icky smell after the lye, so think it was a success. I added a bit of the used ground grounds in to the mix as well and it seemed like things were going well...UNTIL I added the FO. The FO...

    Coffee Soap

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and sharing. Yup, a friend of mine has a proper setup at home and ground up a batch for me, I did tell him it's for soap and would like it fine, but we'll see if it's fine enough tomorrow after use. I'm hoping to achieve a slightly scrubby body bar, so will...

    Coffee Soap

Hello folks! I'm planning to make a batch of coffee soap and was looking around at some recipes online and would like to know what are some of your preferences and reasons for them. Assuming that i have some grounds that I would like to add into my soap while mixing, here are some differences I...

    70% Rice Bran Oil soap

Hmm? I'm not the @HoliHealerz and never claimed that soap does not require curing. I just thought that this post really illustrated the difference in cure and hence the link.

    Massage Candles

Yup, pretty much what @DBoutique mentioned. It's also a nice little thing to pamper someone with, some people use it for romantic evenings to give backrubs and all. The warmth from the melted wax makes it rather comfortable. I've also been to a fancy salon once where they placed the candle on...

Lotion Bar - coconut NOT greasy??

Interesting, never really noticed this since I pour 464 or 415 blended with beeswax for my containers. Good to know!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm glad my basic look bar is loved. Hahah. I used 350g of oils to about 4g of charcoal powder, was a small batch to test out the scent.

Lotion Bar - coconut NOT greasy??

Never tried using soy wax for lotion bars myself but I make candles with them. 415 is a softer wax meant for container candles. In my place it's actually rather mushy. You could probably try some soy wax meant for pillar candles if you would like to explore that approach.

    New to candle making

Candlescience is a US business but a lot of the wicks they quote are quite easily found elsewhere. Otherwise, you can just use it as a guide to estimate what to use, personally I'm in Asia and most of my wicks are different as well, but when I'm experimenting on a new container/wick/wax/FO, I...

Lotion Bar - coconut NOT greasy??

My climate is hot and humid year round, so greasiness is really icky. My first attempt was with the trinity of 1:1:1 beeswax, coconut oil and cocoa butter. It was too sticky and greasy for me, so I went to check out oils that were fast absorbing and adjusted with grapeseed oil. My best attempt...
